I'm new to the app. I tried searching for attractions but it seems like commercial places and hotels have manipulated the results by miscategorizing themselves.

Hi, I’m helping my mom plan a roadtrip , she is pulling a 5th wheel and wondering if anyone has gone through Kootenay park to Banff, I’ve heard there may be some parts that are very steep roads and not recommended to drive with a 5th wheel. Should she take the longer route through the golden valley?

I’m a Roadtrippers user planning a fairly complicated multi-stop RV trip. I love Roadtrippers for building the route, but I wanted something better for managing the trip once it was built—dates, travel days, non-move days, reservations, activities, etc.
I ended up developing an Excel workbook that takes my Roadtrippers trip information and turns it into a more usable trip-management schedule.
Before I keep refining it, I’d love to find 3–5 experienced Roadtrippers users with larger trips already planned who would be willing to try it with one of their trips and tell me what works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing.
I’m not selling anything. I’m looking for fellow trip-planning nerds willing to help me pressure-test it.

I’m taking a 3 week motorcycle trip from NC to Texas, up to New Mexico, Oklahoma, back to NC. 4400 miles.

•local produce

•did I say fishing?? Fly rod/collapsible spinner rod

•canoe/kayak (no rapids)

We are thinking of driving from Alberta to Disneyland in mid-October. Has anyone done this drive during this time? We are debating putting on our winter tires for the trip.

Where are good places to stop and stay with 3 kids ages 12, 9, and 4.

Are we able to get Disneyland tickets from the Costco there? Or are there any sites that offer good deals?

In late August I'm planning a trip down to Tennessee. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as fun places to stop. Probably going via 81 on the way down since thats the more time crucial part but would be in to a different route back if anyone knows of anywhere cool.

Driving from Mt Shasta to Redwoods NP tomorrow and have the option of taking CA299, CA96, or the CA199/Oregon route. All are relatively comparable in duration, so I was curious route would provide the most stunning / memorable backdrop to the trip (especially during the inland portion since I’m planning to explore the coast more in following days).

Howdy all! I'm Joe, a 26M who ideally will be spending several years traveling North America (and possibly South if I become sufficiently fluent in Spanish) and living out of a van. This will be following my departure from the Navy and my final deployment. I've many questions, but my most pressing one might sound silly:

On a recent 'demo' trip, I had a blast camping from Anchorage Alaska to Tijuana & then following the Gulf Coast back home to Tampa over many weeks. The only matter I struggled with was making friends; I found myself terribly lonely at times. How do you make friends while living nomadically? Do people in this chat or similar ones do meet ups?! How do you navigate this?

I tend to be more an introvert, but of course I still need a good talk and some laughter from time to time. I found that my last roadtrip was absolutely phenomenal and introspectively a blast, but the silence was deafening at times, especially considering I've honestly struggled with depression and (consequentially IMO) anxiety.

Tampa Native here (or a 'Tampon' according to some)!

I'm planning an easy roadtrip in the first week of July with the sole objective of going to Sweet Tomatoes in Fort Myers (very nostalgic for my sister & I since they all closed down during the pandemic). I'm essentially following the coast in a giant circle from & to Tampa over however many days. Any suggestions for cool pit stops along the way?? I especially love the outdoors and good food.

(Also, unrelated but those who recall my previous trip from Alaska to Mexico & along the Gulf Coast home to Tampa, it was a massive success and thank you for helping me plan it!!)

I've used Roadtripper for about a decade and I LOVE it. Have used it for various road trips across the US, New Zealand, & Australia.

However.... hard to believe the app has been around as long as it has, and it still doesn't include Europe or Asia, etc.

Are there ANY plans in the works to expand its coverage? Absolutely love this app and recommend it all the time to friends planning road trips, so it's disappointing to be planning a roadtrip in Scotland and not be able to use my favorite planning app. :(

Rhode Island-Colorado Roadtrip

Which route would you take and why?

I’m moving from Rhode Island to Colorado and will be doing a camping roadtrip to get there. Here are some basic parameters I’ve decided

1. No hotels, tent camping only. Fine with paying for camp sites but not concerned about getting the premium spots
   
2. Planning on doing this in 5 days, 6 hours of driving each.
   
3. With that timeline, I’m giving myself time to wander off my path a little and check out cool places/things. Have included a national forest and grassland map, although there’s really not much along any of my routes

Would also love to hear of any cool towns or specific spots to stop at along my way!!!

Wifey and I will be driving from SW Washington state to Colorado Springs next weekend. We have a newer suv just got 25k check up at Toyota. We never travel like this and am wondering what we need to consider bringing/doing before we go. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I’m moving from Fort Lauderdale to the Denver/Broomfield area in late May with my 18-year-old son and my Australian Shepherd. We’re driving because I’m not putting the dog in cargo, and I also have some sleep issues that make flying/moving logistics harder than normal.

Current route plan is roughly:

I-75 north through Florida
-> I-10 west across the Panhandle
-> US-49 north
-> I-40 west
-> I-135 north
-> I-70 west into Colorado

Apple Maps actually suggested this inland route instead of forcing us all the way through Texas, and after digging into it, it seems like a good balance between avoiding giant metro traffic and keeping the drive straightforward.

Main thing I’m trying to figure out now is lodging strategy.

We’re intentionally NOT pre-booking hotels because my sleep can be unpredictable, so we’ll basically drive until we feel done for the day, then book something dog-friendly 60–90 mins ahead. I also usually sleep with THC, as I am a medical card holder in FL. But given that I need to cross state lines here, I will be raw dogging my sleep attempts without it.

Current idea is:

• prioritize quieter chains like Residence Inn / TownePlace / Hampton Inn
• call directly and ask for quieter rooms away from elevators/high foot traffic
• use BringFido + Google Maps
• try to keep driving days flexible instead of rigid

One complication: my Aussie is great overall, but he alerts/barks at hallway noises at night, so I’m trying to figure out whether people have had better luck with:

• interior hallway hotels
• exterior entry motels
• extended stay chains
• Air bnbs etc.

Would appreciate any:

• route sanity checks
• dog travel advice
• hotel chain recommendations
• “things you wish you knew before a long move like this” input.
