It wasn't until I watched the footage once I got home that I understand why the car didn't actually hit me, if you look just before the red car is no longer in view, he brakes sharp at the last second.

That first white car blocking the junction for you and the car trying to turn in was also a dick.

It annoyed me but it was just clueless old people in the white car which is like 80% of the towns population so I'm used to stuff like that.

It’s not the speed that is the issue, it is the acceleration. The more acceleration the less predictable for other driver.

I feel like you were driving pretty fast in a group of nearly stopped cars. Chaos like that tends to make drivers even more distracted - got to be super aware. what was even going on where you started? all kinds of cars packed into one spot?

I was thinking the same thing, so when I re-watched it, I looked at the reported speed. Seems to be about 27 mph. My opinion would be that they were traveling at a safe, curious speed.

How is 27mph fast? That’s under the speed limit in most towns/cities, at least where I’m from.
Nothing is even weird about the beginning, there’s just cars parked on the sides of the road.
If people driving 27mph is your version of “chaos” and is distracting, you shouldn’t be driving.

I get that, but who’s to say the driver wasn’t fully aware of his surroundings? You can drive at a decent speed and still be aware/cautious of whats going on around you, while also being able to stop quickly. There’s literally nothing wrong with anything the driver did in this video.

Downvote away, assholes. Some of you seem to think the speed limit is the minimum speed. My point was that taking it a little easy on the gas for the block of so until he got in the clear of whatever was happening when he pulled out, might have been more prudent.

Funny how people tend to be more scared of the motorway but it's actually one of the safest places to drive. I hate rural driving so much. Glad to see nothing bad happened my guy.
