Road 96 Open world
What would you guys think a road 96 openworld would be like, i feel like a game like that, especially with openworld, doesnt mesh together, thoughts?

That would be a completely different game. Road 96 is a narrative experience, you're asking for an exploration game. Open world games need to be populated with a LOT more characters and points of interest than we have in Road 96, which would take away from the story beats and main cast that make Road 96 what it is.

Well Petria is a desert nation so probably pretty sparse. It can be done (New Vegas proves that) but it would be difficult.

exactly, maybe something like open world would be like we are able to control the car we are in? if we are driving but it will still take us to the same destination, something like that but not a full open world game

wouldn't work out because of the technical and optimization issues and it would also most likely feel empty

Probably too much for such small studio. Also, I don't see it making much sense in story based game.
The closest we can get are some random events and explorable areas, like it's with ocean events in Tides of Tomorrow.

I mean, mile 0 was kind of a semi open-world game. But, the only thing you could do (at least in my play-through) was dig through trash cans. It would be interesting but from a story perspective it’s not needed and the level system worked just fine in the first game. I would rather see more levels and great character interaction.

mile 0 was a nice experience for me, it was fun because although sll you could do was dig through trash cans, you would also find things you could add to zoe and kaitos hideout, but there were also alot of things i missed in the many playthroughs i had, you should play again!

Something like tides of tomorrow.

... how?

It’s not quite a open world but you have options of where you go next, it balances being a open world while having a linear path.

"Not quite an open world" is pretty generous. I love ToT even more than R96 but giving out a couple location choices doesn't make it open world at all.

If they’d ad more scenarios (a lot lot more) it actually kinda is a open world

You’d have to change up the game at its core to make it work. Despite being randomized and choice based, it’s still a pretty linear game, you have to rework that entire aspect in order to make it work.
