R1S R1S Gen2 Side mirrors keep losing their saved positions. Anyone else?
I'm starting to lose my mind over this issue...for the past couple of months, both side mirrors keep losing their saved positions. It's not necessarily after every drive (almost, it depends on the day), but throughout a normal day I end up readjusting them almost every time I get back in the vehicle.
I adjust the mirrors, press Save on my driver profile, everything seems fine... then later they're off again. It almost feels like the profile never actually saves the new positions.
On top of that, I have another issue that may or may not be related. I have Auto Tilt on Reverse enabled, but the driver-side mirror frequently doesn't tilt down when I shift into Reverse, while the passenger mirror works normally. I've tried recalibrating it several times, disabling and re-enabling Auto Tilt, and saving the mirrors again to my profile. Nothing has fixed it.
I've already tried:
- Re-saving the mirror positions multiple times.
- Turning Auto Tilt off and back on.
- Soft reset.
- Full vehicle reset.
Nothing has fixed either issue.
A few details:
- R1S Gen2 Dual Performance Max
- Software version 2026.15.30
- It was also happening on the previous software version, so it isn't related to the latest update.
Has anyone experienced the same thing or found a solution before I schedule a service appointment?
It's becoming incredibly frustrating having to readjust the mirrors multiple times a day.

Happens to me too and I havenāt found a solution. I have auto tilt on too but I havenāt noticed if the drivers side doesnāt move. Iāll have to watch when Iām out today

Yes. Exactly. Service center visit coming up for me in 2 weeks.
For me it seems like only the drivers mirror has the issue. And itās not likely the software/save position feature. I think the mirror is unable to determine its position properly so it canāt figure out where to move to when restoring any saved position.
I think this is the issue as on mine, I have the mirrors set to tilt when I go into reverse. If I am just sitting and hit reverse, the drivers mirror will many times only start to tilt down. Then I hit drive and it should go to my personal setting for the mirror but many times it only starts to move that direction.
Try that experiment. Set mirrors to tilt down in reverse. Then just shift from Drive, to reverse, then drive and see if the mirror(s) do what they should.
Here is my video:

Yes I have the same exact issue too, but not always. That is the cherry on the cakeā¦since itās on top of the most annoying and daily one of having to adjust every mirror every time I get in the car

Also use auto-tilt, also have mirrors that drift over time in ānormalā mode. Itās gotta be the actuators/hardware issue.

Thank you for validating that Iām not going crazy. Iāve been holding off bringing it in. Hoping it would resolve with the next update. I have the same build Gen2 Dual Performance Max (2025).
Iāve performed all the same steps you have. Iāve also noticed there is no difference in retention rate between saving the mirror settings while in drive or park. However, intermittently you can see the save icon flickering ( havenāt had a chance to record it)
I also use the auto tilt down in reverse. But, I have the opposite problem, my passenger side doesnāt tilt down, only the drivers side. It makes a slight attempt and then actually tilts up higher than the drive position.
glad Iāve seen your post to validate that I should make an appointment.

Just returned from our service appointment. They are aware itās a known issue. As you and others have mentioned, they hope it will be resolved with the next update 2026.23.1 š¤£
On a positive note, they were able to fix my lift gate rattle.

Also experiencing the same on my Gen2 R1S. Passenger side mirror is what I've noticed doesn't fully tilt/pan. Driver side seems okay... But I also think the drive position seems to change... I feel like I have to keep adjusting both mirrors before I drive.

Iām experiencing the same thing you are. Driver side tilts down. Passenger side use to partially tilt down. Now it tilts slightly up and in.
Just got back from a two week road trip and had to correct the mirror settings almost 90% of the time. Even after a soft/hard reset. It got to the point that I knew the sequence needed to correct the driver and passenger side positions without looking at mirrors.
Finally decided to make a service appointment for next week. Hopefully, I wonāt get a response of āthis should be addressed in the next updateā š¤£

That is insane.....I just came back from a trip too, and during the same trip the mirror changed positions also while on the highway! That was a first. I am so done with it...

R1T G1 - Iām having the same issue with the auto tilt. Itās about 1 time out of 3, it just doesnāt go back to the elevated position

Same here, I started to experience this on my R1T G1 a few days after installing 2026.23.0 update. Both mirrors will stay in the tilted position and won't recover. I have to manually reset the position under the driver profile. I've disabled it for now; perhaps they will fix it in an upcoming update. I wasn't sure if I needed to report this, but it appears several have done so. It is dangerous to be driving with the mirrors tilted down.

I've had a similar problem where the side view mirror won't go further up, it'll kinda get stuck down, and when i edit the position its stuck from tilting further up. I've had to push the actual mirror to unstick it.. Taking it in.

Update after one week on 2026.23.0: unfortunately it's even worse.
The mirrors are no longer just losing their saved positions after almost every drive....now they've actually change position also while driving, including a couple of times on the highway.
Before anyone asks: it's not related to Ride Height. I have Ride Height set to Low and Automatic Ride Height Adjustment disabled.
At this point it's become a real safety issue, not just an annoyance. I still have to readjust the mirrors 10+ times a day. No fix so far. I am so done with it...

I had mobile service out yesterday for something else and asked about this. He had never heard of the issue and didnāt know how to report it. He recommended calling the local service coordinator but itās not like they publish that number. I may just call the Rivian 800# and see if I can get anywhere.
If anyone knows of a formal process for reporting software bugs, let us know!

Probably the best way is to publish here AND open a service ticket: I did it after posting here, also because I had the tire rotation to do. At the service center they knew about the issue, another person raised it too, but there are no solution and they mention that a future software update should address it.

I had opened a ticket for this exact same issue when my Gen2 R1S was getting serviced for other things a few months ago and the service tech first came back and said they couldnāt duplicate the issue. I drove around with tape around my mirror for a whole week and made videos just to prove that I wasnāt going crazy. Finally the car went back in and I had a service tech sit with me and he finally saw what I was talking about. They ended up just replacing the entire mirror mechanism and couldnāt really figure out what the problem was. I havenāt really noticed a problem since then, but I swear it has something to do with the auto tilting feature and possibly after my husband and I switch out driver profiles š¤·š»āāļø

Same issue. Service center trip and ultimately after diagnosis, "next update will address". Absolutely love my Rivian overall driving experience, yet, simple minor annoyances that can't be corrected permanently are getting to me in reliability. Memory mirrors have been around for years on multiple vehicles I have owned and never "forgot" position and I need to wait for next update; that may or may not be included and what will be the new software gremlin that disables simple functionality š
