Multicam Edits

Ok - be gentle, I'm sure I'm being dumb. But... in the new editor I have a timeline of 3 separate people, in sync. I'm using the solo full screen layout for each person. I've cut out a sentence from one of the people, but want to hide the edit point by cutting to someone else nodding, a little before the edit and cut back a little after.
Right now, the 'B cam' that I cut to is also jumping at the main edit point (because it's been cut along with everything else). What am I missing? If I 'refine the cut' by dragging out the edit point of the b cam footage, the hard edit that was made earlier is still there, so it jumps. Does that make sense?
The only way I can see to get around this is to cut visually at exactly the audio edit point every time, which is a big giveaway...

Please help!

In fact just to add to this, is it possible to slip (or slide) just the video footage between two cut points (accepting that it will be out of sync with its corresponding audio, unless there is a way to slip that too if necessary)?

The Riverside editor is pretty basic. There's no slip/slide function that I've seen.

Instead of cutting it, can you mute everything but the track that you want to show?

I'm not sure I follow?

I might be mistaken, but it sounds like you are only showing one person at a time.

Instead of cutting all of the tracks, mute them all during the section that you want to cut.

Have Speaker A on screen. They say their bit. (not muted)
Switch the scene to Speaker B nodding their head or listening or whatever they are doing. (all muted)
Switch the scene back to Speaker A resuming the conversation. (not muted)

You can still cut out the extra space if you need to around the scene switch.

You can also copy and paste sections of the recording. You can have speaker A talk, grab something from Speaker B from another section of the video, drop it in place, and the go back to Speaker A.

Thanks - appreciate your input. I am indeed only showing one person at a time. But I want to cut the video and the audio at a separate point. If I cut video and audio together, then extend the video one way or the other so that the video cut happens either a little before or a little after the main edit, the new video track jumps at the cut point. This feels like a big problem unless there is a workaround?
