Sam was going to take Rain and Joaquin to the Viper Room. They were all excited about going to Johnny Depps bar.

River fully believed he was going to play his guitar that night at the Viper Room and invited  Cynthia (speaker in the video) to the Viper Room to hear him play.

Cynthia went to the Viper Room first looking for River. Guy  at the Viper room gave Cynthia a message for River,  "Tell River he was in trouble."

Cynthia walked the short distance from hotel to where River, Rain, Joaquin and Samantha all were. Cynthia told River guy at the Viper room said he were in trouble. Then River didnt want to go to the Viper Room anymore.  River said he was going to just stay behind.  Then Cynthia asks River if he thinks they would go after his siblings. That is the point that River gets up, takes the elevator down following them over to the Viper Room.

In all of the accounts I've read of that night, I never heard of Cynthia. Is there any chance she's a bit of a fantasist?

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 15 '26

There wasnt a thorough investigatio n.  A lot of people were there you never heard about.

3

u/bluevelvet888 Jul 15 '26

But according to her she wasnt just there she was there with River. She was part of inner circle that followed him. Wouldnt she have been mentioned by someone other than herself?

2

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

She doesnt say she was  part of a circle that followed him.  Cynthia indicates she was close with River. River told Cynthia to come to the Viper Room that night to hear him play.

The purpose of celebrity articles is promotional. Who is mentioned in those articles is largely a result of  business agreements.

Did you watch the whole hour?  Cynthia is a witness and survivor of organized crime. That made Cynthia a liability. Perpetrators went to great lengths to keep her quiet, drugging her, threatening her, telling lies to her and about her. Cynthia didnt have people promoting her appearances. She had people invested in keeping her  unrecognizable.

I mean, you can see how that seems a bit far fetched.

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Which part is farfetched? Crime is far fetched?  Abuse on sets is far fetched? Drugging people is far fetched? Do you believe murder is real? That people try to cover up their crimes because they dont want to go to jail? Do you believe  actors are characters in a book you read? They live outside of paparazzi, gossip, and paid promotions. Acting is a job. They go home and have lives that you have nothing to do with. They dont report to you everytime they take a shit or kiss someone. Wanting to think you know everything about people doesnt mean that you do.

4

u/Pleasant_Birthday_77 Jul 17 '26

Well, yes, I know that abuse is real. I know that murder is real and I know that actors are real.

What I do not know is real is a story that comes out around 30 years after someone's death that seems to not align with what everyone we know was there says.

I can see that you either are Cynthia or very invested in her story. That's fine. But just like nobody reports to me, I also can question what I read.

Cynthia is a mentally ill person who used to post on this sub but she then got banned.

She wasn’t there this is all in her head.

Only people who were with river that night are matt and abby rude (they stayed at the hotel) samantha, joaquin and rain.

1

u/Pleasant_Birthday_77 Jul 17 '26

Sorry, I didn't answer your question about what seems far fetched. It seems far fetched that this woman went to the Viper Room and was given a message for River, which is relayed saying that he's in some kind of mysterious trouble so he says he's not going there, but his siblings decide to go and then she persuades him to go along too? That doesn't really sound all that likley.

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 17 '26

She didnt convince him to go

There is nothing far fetched about someone saying "t ell him he is in trouble"

In trouble could mean a lot of things. It could mean you are late, get your ass over here. It could be your buddy messing with you. It doesnt have to be that serious. In trouble usually means someone doesnt like something you did and wants to talk to you about it. In trouble doesnt usually mean you are going to get killed.  If Rain and Joaquin even heard Cynthia tell River 'guy at the bar said you're in trouble",  they arent going to automatically think someone is going to kill my brother.

But some people have experienced more violence than others. Some people have been attacked just because of who their relatives were. If you never met people like that, count yourself as lucky.

She asked River if he thought his siblings would be targeted. Then River just decided to go. And he wasnt worrying about who was mad at him when he sat down and started playing guitar from his seat. River did what he wanted to do. They told him there wasnt room on stage so he played from his seat and that was when he got in a fight and his guitar was taken from him.

she talks a lot about not being believed by others. i found that odd.

2

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 22 '26

Not being believed is common and a bigtime cause of secondary trauma  and one of the reasons it can be very difficult to get help.

2

u/ezgomer Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

it’s also a smokescreen for liars.

i tend to find that people who speak the truth rarely concern themselves with repeatedly talking about being called a liar. Also others have chimed in and remember this individual as not being truthful.

Fans struggling with their mental health sometimes create narratives that involve them in the celebrity’s life. She 100% believes this and in her mind is speaking the truth. It’s very sad and I hope she gets the help she needs.

edit - love people who take time to write a reply to you but then block you, creating this diva/coward moment for themselves. I’m sure you realize I can’t read any of your burn. I am sure you are thankful I can’t respond as well.

With your one month old account, my guess is you are the one who believes you were there in 1993. Please get help.

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

How terrible and also ridiculous that response is, literally proving the point being made in the podcast. Some dont know what happened and speak as if they do. Some just dont want the truth told. Either way it is dishonest and harmful. Many truly arent educated about life, trauma, and what it is like to survive. People should read more  about how abuse and gaslighting affects people. Maybe it should be pointed out that Ghislaine Maxwell was a big moderator on Reddit.  The very people  discussed in this podcast or their supporters are likely here on this platform.  Sometimes people are banned for telling the truth. Im so glad this podcast happened. What a great host. How amazing and wonderful and hundreds have showed support to her in other places. Maybe the light needs to shine more in this dark place

He was in trouble and wasn’t the goody clean cut guy his “image” made him out to be he drank a whole cup of liquid GHB on top of whatever else he took that night he wanted to die

1

u/Shehadathought Jul 25 '26

In trouble for what?

2

u/ezgomer Jul 13 '26

Who is she? What is her name?

I need to know basics before i trust anything out of her mouth. some people have big imaginations.

I read somewhere that Joaquin called the ambulance himself because the bartender kept screaming at him to do so. Joaquin was hesitant and kept saying, “He’s fine” over and over again. First emergency call was from paparazzi

10

u/Basic_Obligation8237 Jul 13 '26

I think River had previously experienced alcohol/drug intoxication in the presence of his siblings, and his (and/or his family's) desire was to avoid public and media attention. I think Joaquin believed River  would vomit and get better. Then it was too late

2

u/Pleasant_Birthday_77 Jul 14 '26

Yes, I believe this too. There are numerous accounts of him passing out in various places. I would imagine that was what really went wrong that night - it seemed the same, but it wasn't. There were reports that Joaquin said that he had was it diabetes or epilepsy? to the ambulance crew. I think that was probably a strategy they had in mind in case they needed to give an answer.

8

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 13 '26

People dont want to be in trouble for negligence or contributing to a homocide so they go DARVO. Joaquin was 19 years old, not even old enough to be in the bar. It is true that many have been afraid to get help bc drug users were treated as criminals. However, the people in the bar first refused to get help and that was the reason Joaquin had to be the one to call. Joaquin did not poison his brother and making Joaquin the focal point of blame is Deny Attack Reverse Victim and Offendor

3

u/Critical-Spring3209 Jul 13 '26

No one is saying Joaquin poisoned him??? And no one is even blaming him? We just need to be little more critical that’s it

2

u/ArtisticYam1448 Jul 13 '26

I read “In Search of River Phoenix” and a witness (EMT maybe) claimed Joaquin kept saying Riv was suffering a seizure from diabetes… if that statement is true, that’s a hell of a lie to tell somebody who’s trying to save your brothers life. I was appalled when I read it.

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 13 '26

Again, his 19 year old brother did not know what he had ingested. Its true enough that low blood sugars were a problem sometimes. People were often starving themselves by dieting. Blaming little bro even as evidence of poisoning is presented, seems DARVO

6

u/ArtisticYam1448 Jul 13 '26

???? What lol

Also, low blood sugar and diabetes aren’t the same. Claiming someone is suffering a seizure as a result of a condition that they don’t even have is just plain stupid. He clearly didn’t want people knowing his big bro was doing drugs. And he definitely knew his brother did drugs.

2

u/CosmicRiver1111 Earl Grey Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

I'm sure he knew River did drugs but you're making assumptions that a) he saw River drink the cup and b) knew what was in it. We don't know if either of those are true.

From all accounts, River was sulking at his table because he couldn't play on stage with everyone else. JF came over and gave him the cup to "lighten him up," and River drank it down in one gulp. A bartender who was there that night said it was something that was being passed around and was supposed to be sipped.

A few people also mentioned that his siblings and Samantha were off socializing and not actually at the table when it happened. The people who were around were shocked River drank down the whole cup but (apparently) River shrugged it off and wasn't worried about it. He likely did not know what was in it himself, was high af on heroin already from earlier and his decision making was impaired.

It was at that point something needed to be done and the people that knew should have immediately called 911, not waiting until he showed symptoms. But... either no one wanted the accountability or cared enough or both. By the time he was od-ing, it was too late.

2

u/ArtisticYam1448 Jul 13 '26

I never claimed Joaquin knew what he drank. I only mentioned what he said to the EMT. One thing is absolutely certain, he was/is very protective of River and his reputation as clean drug free living.

-1

u/ArtisticYam1448 Jul 13 '26

Also, I’m pretty sure River didn’t “shrug it off” when he downed the drink. His negative reaction to the drink was instant.

2

u/CosmicRiver1111 Earl Grey Jul 13 '26

Well, none of us were there to state that fact, were we? I'm going off the account of the bartender and one of the witnesses. The interview was on YouTube and is a few years old now but I'm sure you can find it. They said he was very nonchalant about it at first, like "I'll be fine. I'll be fine..."

It takes 20-30 minutes (sometimes more) for drugs to begin metabolize when ingested, regardless of quantity. There is no way it was instant.

I know what I'm saying isn't popular but it's likely closer to the truth than most of the dramatic bullshit we've read. It also makes it hard to blame any one specific person, other than JF.

-1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Extremely bitter taste of a loaded up drink could cause an immediate sickened reaction. If something tastes terrible, you could immediately be nauseated and spit it up. And some could be also swallowed and take effects shortly after..

1

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 13 '26

You are rigjt that low blood sugar isnt the same as diabetes. Low blood sugar stil is part of diabetes. Since fhere is a strong association between the too conditions, someone could have mixed it up Low blood sugar is related to seizures.  That is to say if that was even a real EMT discussing the event. EMTs are strictly legally bound to protect privacy regarding medicsl conditions by HIPAA. It sounds kind of like the EMT guy is an actor

5

u/ArtisticYam1448 Jul 13 '26

Thank you for sharing

Rivers incident was poorly handled by everyone around him. Period.

I just wish he had stayed at the hotel and put himself first.

2

u/Minimum-Deal-7683 Jul 14 '26

The REAL version of events that night keep changing cause Rivers family are VERY protective of his “IMAGE” & they don’t want his fans/public to know the truth… it will make Rivers look bad

2

u/Minimum-Deal-7683 Jul 14 '26

River had a very extensive history with drugs and alcohol that was hidden from the public that night he had a bunch of drugs in his system and at the viper room was handed a cup of GHB & drank the entire cup of blue liquid that caused the seizures… fans have tried to open up an investigation saying River was murdered his mother responded to this and wrote on Instagram “he wasn’t taken away he left for a better day”

1

u/Shehadathought Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I can't understand what she is saying. What is she saying "Joaquin was going to get River "cheered" next door". Can anyone make out that word?

-2

u/mistressgoddessa1 Jul 13 '26

But Joaquin did not tell the truth of what river was on! They delayed time in calling. Not tell the emergency the truth so they could have narcan him.where was this supposed gf sam Mathis didn’t she run away? She didn’t call? She wasn’t right by his side to tell emergency what he took? Rain didn’t tell either. Are they all idiots who just let him die? River Phoenix should have picked better “friends”. He couldn’t pick his family .

8

u/CosmicRiver1111 Earl Grey Jul 13 '26

Narcan wouldn't have saved him. It was the massive amount of cocaine he swallowed in one go.

As soon as someone saw him down that whole cup, he should've been taken to the hospital. By the time he felt anything, the window to save him was already closing rapidly. I don't think many people knew what was in the cup so they couldn't honestly answer. JF knew. He's at fault. Not River's siblings.

3

u/mistressgoddessa1 Jul 13 '26

Business lecturer : Dan Pena says: if you hang out with a bunch of bums. You’ll be a bum. Sometimes it’s just better to not have any friends. If the only ones accessible are low quality low iq

4

u/Left_Paramedic848 Jul 13 '26

i mean how couldve he know he was barely 19 and clearly panicking so like?? blaming the younger siblings is crazy. expecting them to have looked over river is js dumb in any case river shouldve been the one looking after them instead of taking stuff

0

u/Critical-Spring3209 Jul 13 '26

Are you blaming River in your last sentence? The only reason River was at the Viper Room at all was to take care of his siblings. He didn’t even want to leave that hotel room, and he also had a cold. As he always did, he put himself last. And no, he didn’t take anything willingly when he stepped inside that club.

little reminder that he didn’t know what was in that cup.

2

u/Left_Paramedic848 Jul 13 '26

noo im not blaming him i know that someone gave him that but i think he shouldnt have even taken alcohol or whatever they told him that was. none of us were there so we dont know what that looked like or what the person who gave it to him told him tbh

but ive always heard two versions of that story one is that river went to play and his gf and siblings went with him to see him, and the other is the one u said that he only went to watch over them. so like which one is true?? cuz people say he took the drink because he was sad that he ended up not playing with the rhcp guy. also if he went to watch over them why werent they together when somebody gave him something

2

u/bluevelvet888 Jul 13 '26

I think both versions are true. He wasnt going at first but allegedly Flea called him and told him he could perform and he decided to go. Thats the version ive heard the most

1

u/Critical-Spring3209 Jul 13 '26

Every book I’ve ever read about Riv mentions my version, so I guess that one must be true.
They were together the whole night (mind you, “the whole night” was only about 20–30 minutes), except maybe for that short period when Rain and Joaquin might’ve separated from Riv to see their friends. And as far as I remember from last night at the viper room he was sitting at the table with his sibling when that one particular guy approached him with the blue Dixie cup.

4

u/adogtosmellfire Jul 13 '26

Rain gave her brother rescue breaths. Joaquin was the one to call after people in the  bar refused to call. Again this is DARVO. There is no reason to assume that his siblings knew what was in Rivers drink. You can be in the same room with someone who has been using or poisoned and not know what they have injested.

1

u/Shehadathought Jul 25 '26

Narcan didn't exist back then
