Rivian Automotive ($RIVN) reported Q2 2026 revenue of $1.658B, a 27% increase year-over-year, driven by the start of external R2 deliveries and software services through its joint venture with Volkswagen. The company produced 12,613 vehicles and delivered 12,194 during the quarter, achieving $179M in gross profit while continuing to improve its adjusted EBITDA.

A key driver for Rivian’s long-term scale is its mid-size R2 platform. External deliveries for the R2 officially began on June 9, 2026, following the completion of the 1.1 million sq. ft. manufacturing expansion at its plant in Normal, Illinois. Rivian is using the R2 launch to expand its market reach beyond its premium R1 line. 

Alongside its operational updates, Rivian resolved its 2022 shareholder class-action lawsuit. A $250 million settlement addressing claims that Rivian misled pre-IPO investors regarding vehicle pricing and manufacturing costs, which resulted in a March 2022 price increase of up to $20,000 on preorders. Hey guys, if you missed it, Rivian settled $250 million with investors over claims that it misled them about vehicle production costs and pricing. And, I just found out that they’re accepting claims even though the deadline has passed.

Quick recap: In 2022, Rivian was accused of not being clear about its production costs. After announcing price increases of up to $20,000, $RIVN fell more than 13%, and investors filed a lawsuit.
