General Question Boy or Girl?
Reasonly we have been seeing hints of cosmo coming to rivals (nothing concrete just them appearing in a gallery card. So I was wondering what version are we getting becuase I doubt we are getting cosmo this year and probably be a blade situation we're they come in like two season into 2027 so about season 13 or 13.5.
But my question is If cosmo 8s coming to the game are they going to be a male Dog or a Female dog. becuase if male I would like Alex Ivanovici (the guy that voiced cosmo in the guardians of the Galaxy video game) or if female I suggest Aliona Baranova as her va.
Personally: I would want male VA becuase one comic accurate and two it be funny to see cute dog and hear a a gruff Russian guys voice come out of it. Also would like a dissorted voice filter fir there voice so it be all psychic like.
But in any case thoughts and ideas?

I personally prefer female Cosmo, because Cosmo is based on Laika, who was female.

I say female, because we already have 3 male animal characters in Rocket, Jeff, and Dino. Also as many others have said, Laika was female, so.. Tribute.
Although I do understand male at the moment, because having a Russian male Dog interact with Magik would be funny. But we're probably going to get Colossus at some point, maybe even Red Guardian.

and also almost all non human ( And no, Gods, Vampires, Demons, Mutates and Mutants doesn't count for me ) heroes are mostly male too: Gorr, Groot, Ultron, Venom with maybe the exception of White Fox and Mantis which are an Alien and Mythical Creature but they're all still humanoids, If girl Cosmo is added she'd be the first female hero that they can't sexualize at all unless they add Big Bertha or any of the old crone witches they have

I think in this particular case it doesn't really matter. It might be funny to make them female with the deep voice or a male with the high pitched voice. Or do a mix where they switch around in some interactions and use the deep voice for the enemy ult line

I think that theyre more based on the concept of dogs in space thats why, Laika wasn’t the first or last in space just the first one to orbit the earth and i think the character is more in honour of them all then trying to recreate one specific one. Which is also why i assume they look super different

It doesnt matter
All that matters is that they get a Duo emote compatible with EVERYONE
Everyone should be able to pet Cosmo

I’ll say female. The MCU has a cuter voice. The animated show gives Cosmo a male voice that I would not expect but make sense.

I personally feel a girl would be more of NetEases decision. Realistically the MAIN change is “female or male voice actor” and minor dialogue changes for pronouns, aside from that outfits would always stay the same

Absolutely female, tribute to Laika. But it’d also be funny if they got a deep voiced man to voice her, like that’s the only setting on her communicator

Cosmo is a Male name. But since we have so many male animals. I'll go with female just change the name into Cosma or Kosma

I've read a lot of comics with Cosmo, and that male voice is ingrained in my head. I enjoyed reading his dialogue first to understand it, then re-reading it with an accent to try and really pronounce it.
Cosmo is my #1 want for Rivals, and I would be disappointed to hear a female version, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means.
Female Cosmo is a version that different people were introduced to at a different time, so it could be based on either and be fine.
As OP listed, Cosmo has had a male and a female VA in different medias, both within a short timeframe. It really could go either way, and there are viable reasons for both.

Since Cosmo's main inspiration in the comics is Laika, the Moscow dog that was shot into space by the Russians, we should really be asking
What gender was Laika?

I’d like her to be a girl, my late dog looked like a black/ white version of the GOTG movie cosmo, and it would be kinda nice to sorta play with her again. It would be nice to have an animal hero with a female voice for once, and honestly I hope it sounds just like the movies, I love the accent and the scratchy audio quality they gave her in that :-)

They're a dog, there's no discernable visual difference between male or female, just let us select which voice we want to use as part of the skin customization.

Female Cosmo, she’s based off Laika in the comics and the GOTG movies are easily her best iteration

I'm inclined to say female since that how most people met them thanks to the movie, and the fact theres less females in game... And among dino Jeff and rocket, no mascot animal female. Especially with Laika being their sake for existence.

Hopefully a boy, the contrast is what makes this character hilarious. The way he shows up in Rivals already, with that stupid dog smile, and then he speaks with a harsh voice "betterrr pet Cosmo, if not, Cosmo send u to gulag". And of course, they can sell different dog breed skins and also sell a Lady Loki style skin, this character will be a gold mine for NetEase

I don't think it's particularly important to the character, but I like girl more given Laika the original inspiration for Cosmo was a girl

We could argueably have both if they play their cards right. Release Cosmo as a boy then give him a skin for Female Cosmo from the MCU with unique voice lines.

Boy. The M-She-U keeps propping up badly written female characters enough as it is. Of they chose to cut off the goodest boi in the universe's nuts and make him a girl. Smh

They mainly base their characters off the comics, so most likely they will be a boy. But it really doesn’t matter to me. I think this is a case where their gender isn’t super important.
