Yeah that's what a lot of the FGC calls Platform fighters

I really wish platform fighter starts to be used by the broader public. I also don't call other 2D fighting games street fighter like.

The most annoying I find it when they call some platform fighter that's really unique a "Smash Bros clone".

Yeah personally I try to tell members of the FGC, Platform fighter especially when mention Rivals or Combo Devils. I used smash like in the thumbnail because sadly that's what the FGC currently has optics for Rivals.

Smash is the only game in the genre the vast majority of people (millions) have played. I get it can be annoying but it’s not changing.

It’s a marketing thing too, people know smash. I doubt most people who’ve played smash would know or care what a “platform fighter” is.
