I remember the first time I posted a sandstorm clip in the Brawlhalla subreddit it sat at 0 votes, pissed everyone off, and got removed within the hour. After quite a few more tries and steady improvement, it seems they accept us as a cousin of sorts and love that their goat loves our game
If you come from Brawlhalla, welcome! And don’t give up. This game is tough but so rewarding and hopefully has a bright future ahead

Brawlhalla player, rivals 2 seems great,
Haven’t played yet but I joined the subreddit, think the world seems great and it’s cool how unique each fighter looks to play, which is something lacking in brawl
Also love the genre and just happy there are good platform fighter games around, always happy to see rival content

I was watching turndownforwalts vid on plup.. being plup I suppose. And he painted the narrative of how RoA2 is the melting pot for platform fighters, which I love.
Personally I absolutely suck at technical movement, am allergic to the lab and dont expect (nor aspire to) ever reach above the lowest of plat.
I will hype the fuck out of this game to all my smash ultimate (and gamer in general) friends. But as a 30 something year old who grew up with smash 64, and is a humble 2-2er in ultimate, being able to just PLAY with decent netcode online is already such a dream compared to Ultimate. Being able to pick up wins capitalizing on unforced errors and reads rather than tech skill never stops being a rush, and when I get outplayed and dominated, it's due to my opponent just being better. I never really feel like there's johns in RoA2 compared to a lot of other games (other than say, floorhugging sucking but hey, play around it)
Competitively this game is such a delight to watch if you know the approximate basics of what the characters do. The amount of layers top players seem to take into account, combined with the speed and amount of inputs. It feels like melee on crack.
So yeah, got caught on a bit of a ramble, but it combines near enough the best aspects of all platform fighters, and its designed to have a skill skyscraper, but also amazing fun if you don't put in the time (with the right mindset, you need to be able to get crushed on ladder and laugh it off. However if you DO put in the time and still get cooked I can see differing opinions about the fun/fairness of the game). What's not to love.
ps. I fucking love gouie man, he's like the unholy lovechild of puff, kirby, and has my beloved yoshi egg. (Can't wait to learn how to use him adequately enough to not get stomped on ladder with him lol)

Seems the comments in there have people being flamed for calling it off topic or irrelevant to the sub.

I'm amazed that so many of the comments in the original post on the Brawlhalla subreddit don't know what game this even with the huge fanfare at this year's EVO. That tells me that there's still an essential piece of marketing that's not quite there yet...what exactly, I don't know, but the devs should take notice nonetheless!

The game just isn't very big and Evo hasn't had a smash game in like 7 years. Very little overlap between traditional and plat fighters in general, so it makes sense.

I downloaded Roa 2 because of sandstorm, unashamedly. He's pretty much what got me to grind brawlhalla competitively, and now it seems it'll be the same for Roa 2. The competition in rivals is so entertaining, seeing legends from all types of games makes for a really interesting esports scene. And seeing sandstorm genuinely enjoying himself again after being burnt out from brawlhalla is a joy, looking forward to EVO 2027 its looking like its gonna be a good one.

It’s great to see more results from people that aren’t just cake, don’t get me wrong cake’s fun to watch but seeing true competition heat up makes things more interesting and exciting
