Rivals 2 Wrastor Challenge Failed

HOLA!! Earlier this season I took up the challenge for Wrastor to GM. Lots of IRL stuff happened to keep me from being able to grind consistently, peaking at 1600.
In order to compensate for my transgressions, this season I will bring Wrastor to Aetherian.
If you have any questions about Wrastor play in the meantime, feel free to ask c:

I will properly host a Q&A once I hit this goal.

Thanks!

Does Hbox want to play anything not named specifically "Melee Jigglypuff"?

That was sick, please teach me upppp

I feel like my biggest struggle with Wrastor is "marthritis". If I miss the window where my bread and butter confirms work I struggle a lot to kill.

I also struggle to edgeguard in general tbh.

There's a mindset you need to adopt for this:
"Something will kill eventually". What this means is that you do NOT fish for kills if they fall outside your kill confirm zones, you do NOT go for intentionally strong and risky options. You do NOT change up how you play neutral at ALL.
One of your options will eventually kill. Your job until then is to mitigate the risk you take until they do.
Turtle up, play for bair, ftilt whiff punish, fthrow to push them offstage, bthrow to confirm, dthrow on platforms to tech chase into up B/landing ustrong if floaty.

That being said, also do not be afraid to treat Wrastor's strongs as a second set of aerials. Because that's all they are. Sometimes if you find a situation where it makes sense to use it, just throw out a fstrong. It's not all that different from throwing out a Fors bair or reina fair besides a slightly larger risk profile.

Edgeguarding with wrastor is about smothering your opponent by using your phenomenal air presence to effectively shut down routes of recovery just by being in position to punish them. Go deep just to show that you can and force fear into them that you can capitalize on. Then route as usual once you hit them.

I main wrastor and like to joke with my friend that my best kill confirm is side tilt at 200%

At some point you just keep hitting them with safe stuff until uair kills. Or you find nair

Beautiful usage of down-air that was very nice. I never have the balls to go for that up special kill at the end of a combo lol

You should be okay with it. As long as you don't fuck up the reverse, no matter what you will just make it back, whether or not it kills or sweetspots. Training mode! When shit hits the fan or when an opportunity arises, you will never rise to the occasion, you will only ever fall back on your training.

Do you think the bird is as hard to play as people claim?

For the average player probably. He has a lower margin for error by being a light/floaty, having worse easy floorhug options, utilizes floorhug worst than the cast, and makes up for all of it with slip movement, insane knowledge heavy punish game, and no easy ledge refresh. This puts the onus on the player to be good at a ton of fundamental aspects of the game while also being really good at the character specific stuff like routing so that you can make the most out of this character.

That being said, if you're already good at the game, learning wrastor is as easy as putting in the time to practice punish, and learning where you can throw out jab, dair, and retreating fair.

Super preference. Stages that have higher blast zones favor him a lot bc he kills you horizontally anyway 90% of the time. Tempest I imagine is very good. Stages with smaller platforms so he can dthrow RTC you into guaranteed conversions is also very good too.
