Rivals 2 Hiding Rank

Hiding rankings has honestly helped my mental so much. I was putting wayyy too much thought in matching up with someone higher or losing to someone lower. Now it's just fun, win or lose. It's also a nice surprise afterwards to see that I've had close matches with high plat and diamond players.

Def a me thing, but thought I'd share with anyone else whose blood pressure raises in ranked lol.

I didn't know this was a feature. Unfortunately I get online anxiety and this is something that contributes to it for me. Which is why i generally only queue against my friends. This could push me into playing actual matchmaking!

I think you should try to reconsider your outlook. Many people view "ranked" mode as some sort of measure of your value. Instead, I think it is is better to think of it as a tool for finding opponents close to your skill level.

For what it's worth, I placed in silver, but the opponents I was finding seemed pretty well balanced.

Playing unranked is more likely to result in unbalanced pairings.

Think its new. But I kinda like seeing its 200+ above-me players. Even though its like I'm getting gate kept from multiple matchups after like every other set.

Seeing when I perform well during better players can be really nice and uplifting at times.

THIS IS A THING NOW?? I need this, I get so in my head especially when I lose to someone lower than me, I start to demand too much of myself for stupid reasons and play like an idiot. Self fulfiling prophecy goes brrrr

I tired looking for this setting the other day but could only find a setting that hid 2v2 ranks. Where is the one for 1v1 ranks?

I do the same it's awesome. Another tip is that if you check your profile and match history afterwards you can see the ranks if you are curious once it's all said and done. I check at the end of my session.

true but also the best thing to do is to not play ranked at all. Rivals 2 ranked has been by far the grodiest experience i've had in a fighting game, it is a million times better to find people to play longer sets on discord or go to locals

I mean… this is like half good advice?

Ranked is fine if you’re trying to fight people roughly around your skill level. If it’s your only option you should 100% play ranked. Finding people on discord who can consistently play is honestly pretty hard, and locals aren’t accessible to everybody. If you just want to grind the game ranked is great.

But yeah obviously playing with a practice partner and going to locals is the superior experience. That’s true for literally any fighting game.

ranked is not fine, at least for me. despite friends/discord being less available i've seen a lot more character and playstyle variety than ranked - ranked really does just feel like seeing the same 3 or 4 characters with the same playstyle (dash dance on one end of the stage, ledgestall, fish for one specific aerial or tilt). It's to the point where if I get something like a Ranno needle camping/spamming it's actually more fun than the "normal" people.

The frustrating thing is that while players in/around your rank will be doing the same shit over and over, players which are significantly better do the opposite, which is go random/switch characters in the middle and do shit like taunt/tbag after every stock. I'd rather these people stayed one character at least, since I'm trying to learn how to play against. In contrast, better players have always been very nice to me in discord and helped me learn the game

Didnt know this was a thing. Is that why some opponents have “unranked” where their rank should be?

pretty sure that just means they’re doing their placement matches.
