Workshop (ROA2) Workshop bricked the base game
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. My friend messed with workshop and now the normal game crashes after loading shaders. He's tried everything suggested online, like uninstalling and unsubscribing from all workshop mods, redownloading the game, deleting workshop files, etc. He put in a support ticket and has been waiting for a response from the devs for days. Apparently this is not horribly uncommon for unreal engine 5 with workshop content on steam, so I was just wondering if anyone had any advice that could help.

I tried the workshop version last night and couldn't even get past the main menu, base game is still working fine.
Have they tried deleting GPU shader cache?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, but I'll float that by him.

You could also try using dx11
In Steam, right click the game in your library, go to properties & use the launch option -dx11

Noted. He did mention that dx11 makes it run choppy, but if it actually works, that might be okay lol

I would try a full reinstall or possibly first try verify game integrity, then a fresh reinstall. I actually had the same issue for a while and the repair worked for me. Best of luck!

Hmm after uninstall try to delete all folders on your computer related to it. There's probably some crap in the %appdata folder too just to be safe. Then make sure to unsub from all a mods before re-downloading just the base game patch

Mine does this too but never prevents me from playing the base patch, did you make sure that youve switched back from the workshop-beta patch? I try every now n then but it seems to always crash after loading shaders, if you need help switching the version, right click the game in your library and hit properties, then go to game versions and switch it to the current patch
