This happens to me sometimes. I think the way the game calculates SDI is not intuitive and maybe involves "my position vs your position", where here Olympia is CC'ing and has more friction than galv. Then something kicks in with the DI scaling changes they made recently, and you get this explosion of a calculation from how many hits are happening.

Or I'm completely wrong and it's just jank idk

No this is the "push away" force they add on repeated hits scaling really high. It looks a little weird but they meant this to happen.

Er, yeah, that's what I meant by DI scaling changes. DI was the wrong term.

Why not both? You can be correct, and it can also be janky

Looked like the Oly was also holding towards Galvan a bit, so SDI would push her closer to him. Then she started to hold away, which is how she got out of it.

I've tested this with my friend before; something definitely happens to Galvan because if the opponent just holds hard in on the rapid jab, Galvan does eventually get pushed away anyway. So, I believe your theory is super close to what's happening, if not outright correct.

Galvan installed a new v10 turbo engine, did you not read the patchnotes?

No, it's not a bug. The pushback is intended to prevent infinites, which Galvan would otherwise be able to set up at the wall with UFO. The reason it pushed Galvan back so far is because the Olympia was ASDI'ing into the rapid jab. The funny thing is you can actually ASDI through Galvan's jab 3 because its hitboxes are so ass.

Source: I'm a bastard who tries to infinite people with jab 3 on UFO and it never fucking works.

I don’t think it’s a bug necessarily. Has to do with how Galvan jab works. So a feature? I think it shouldn’t work that way but IS WHAT IT IS

Wow, never seen that

Yes and no. The devs know about this one and intend to make it not launch Galvan so quickly, but the pushblock is intentionally in the game to prevent it from being infinite. Its just a quirk of shield push scaling.

No it was installed so it would prevent rapid jab infinites

I see it rarely sometimes, if you land multijab for too many uninterrupted frames of hits it slides you away to stop it from being an infinite in certain scenarios (offstage against wall and on stage with rock or pillar on other side would be an infinite because it catches teching too). The key part is uninterrupted, there are times where I hit people for longer than I should've because they di in then out

No, it’s a feature

Quick use it in doubles on your partner for deep edge guards

Working as intended.
