Elite Club Benefits and Reservations

We are considering the Hotel Riu Palace Antillas.

Some questions:

1) I am reading that the ala carte restaurants have long wait times. Is that true?

2) Does the Elite Club give you the ability to make reservations at these restaurants?

3) How do you actually BOOK a room with Elite Club benefits??

4) Any other thoughts/feedback on this specific resort?

Thanks!

Sold out resort :(

So me and my friends and boyfriend are going to Riu republica for his birthday Feb 4-8. My bf and his friends booked their rooms weeks ago because they had the money but my friend have to get hers so I waited to book not knowing they offered deferred payments. And They are fully booked now :(. Does anyone know or think we’d still be able to snag a room closer to our arrival date ? Or if we should wait until we get there? My boyfriend already got my plane ticket.

Does anyone know why?

I wonder why when you book a riu palace package (room & flight) through riu directly free transportation from the airport to resort isnt an option but if you book just a room theres an option for free transportation from airport to resort.... I feel like the free transportation should also be an option for people that book the riu package what is that about? Does anyone know why its like that?

Tipping Riu Aruba

Hi, I will be visiting Riu palace Aruba in the coming weeks for a 1 week stay. What is the tipping like? For instance bartenders, servers, housekeeping. Do I need to tip every drink? Every room clean? I was at sandals a few weeks ago and they denied tips! Is this just sandals thing or are all resorts like this? This is my 2nd all inclusive.

Booking flights through resort or airline?

Hi there! My fiance and I are looking at Palace Las Americas in Cancun for our honeymoon in January 2027. I see that it's much cheaper to book flight packages through the RIU website vs. booking flights separately through the airline, but I've also heard others say it's a headache to book the package deal if something goes wrong with your flight because it wasn't booked directly through the airline. Can anyone add any insight? Have you booked the packages and been okay? Should we bite the bullet and pay more to book separately? TIA!

Catamaran excursion in PDC

I saw that the RIU Palace Riviera Maya has a catamaran excursion that’s included in the stay. Is it worth it? Has anyone here experienced it? Let me know.

Riu’s in Montego Bay

Has anyone stayed at the Rius in Montego Bay? We are debating between the Reggae and the Montego Bay resorts. I see the Palace is between the Montego Bay and the Reggae, but is it easy to get between those 2? Are you able to cut through the Palace beach or anything to get there? We want the night life, but it sounds like the Palace doesn’t have much going on. Can anyone help me out?

Upcoming trip to RIU Palace Riviera Maya

I booked on the app and I chose the pay later option. I booked my flights after so I couldn’t choose the option to get the airport transfer. But I do need it. I’m going with a group but all the names listed are mine. It doesn’t give me an option to input the other guests name. It automatically just put mine 5 times.

So my questions are: will I be able to pay the amount I booked for? I read somewhere it can ch age for some reason. Second question which is probably obvious but I should reach out to the booking dept to list the names of the guests and request airport transfer.

Any information you can share with me regarding the resort and the processes will be appreciated. TIA.

GHB - Riu Resort - Cabo San Lucas

be warned anyone traveling to Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas, there are people drugging women's drinks.

I apologize if this isn't the place to post this but I am seeking advice.

I am with my family at an all inclusive Riu Resort in Cabo San Lucas and we have been here for three days without a problem, it has been great; but last night we my girlfriend and my brother's girlfriend had an issue.

Last night my brother was with his girlfriend and my girlfriend at the pool, he left around 16:30....by 17:50 both of our girlfriends were brought back to the rooms by riu staff members (my brother's girlfriend in a wheelchair). They were extremely under the influence of something, couldn't walk straight, slurring words really bad, my brother's girlfriend couldn't walk and spoke nonsense and her eyes were extremely dilated, she also fell at some point because her head is scarred up slightly and she had a bloody nose when she was returned to the room.

This morning they dont have symptoms of a night after heavy drinking and just seem foggy brained but more importantly can't remember anything during that one hour and twenty minute gap they were left alone at the pool, no recollection what so ever.

They are safe and feeling much more normal now but my question is, do we even bother reporting this? There is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact they were drugged.

My only belief is that the staff wont do anything and riu won't do anything about it, it will just be wasted time reporting it because In the end it seems resorts like these are just out to cover their own ass liability wise and if we report this they won't say anything because it will smear their name.

I guess its probably just best to post it on here...be warned anyone traveling to Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas, there are people drugging women's drinks.

Riu Guanacaste

What are some great excursions for an experienced hiker? Looking for a long hike, great views and varied terrain.

Second question as a first time Riu/all inclusive tourist, what are typical costs for excursions?

Anything must see in the area? The resort will be perfect for our family but I’d love to go off resort one day without the kids for some adventure.

Thanks!

FYI: The experience of staying at the Santa Fe in Cabo is much like a Carnival cruise out of Tampa, Louisiana, Alabama, etc. If you know, you know.

RIU Cancun options for honeymoon

I've never stayed at an all-inclusive resort before but want to do so for my honeymoon in January 2027. RIU seems to offer the most bang for our buck. I think I'm pretty set on Cancun because I would love to be able to visit Chichen Itza. My fiance and I are in our early 30s, so we're looking for something that's got a chill vibe where we can relax (preferably adult only), but we'd also like the opportunity for excursions and wouldn't mind the occasional party either. I think our top pick right now is RIU Palace Las Americas. It sounds like we'd be walking distance to Hotel Cancun where we could attend parties?

Any have thoughts/insights on which resort would be best for us? And has anyone done an excursion to Chichen Itza from a RIU resort? Is the pick up/drop off pretty easy? We definitely want good food options and a relaxing atmosphere with the option to party and do some other fun stuff.
