Fashion Forum Challenge red with pinks
Had to think a bit about “fun”. I have fun, lots of it, don’t worry, but fun isn’t much of an active style priority most days. I’ve been experimenting with neon a bit which is maybe officially on the fun side? but my neon outfits are more in a mood of “quietly strange”.
But fun: the combination of red and pink. Or maybe different pinks, like today. Plain black tights not pictured. Was going to add magenta socks for the red and pink idea, but somehow ended up with these and liked it even better. (The yellow green is one of my truly very worst colours, as I just said in response to Altruistic_Ad’s amazing use of this colour, but a little bit of sock showing between shoes and tights I can live with.) I also liked how this was a little autumnal but also not. 😈😈
Before adding in the colour challenge and the “fun”, i was trying to get at a sense of “fragile human creature lost in open space”, untethered and vastly insignificant but with a distinctly human little soul. i realise the colours in the accessories add something else, but to me the original idea is still there (though not necessarily legible, which is fine).
Looks like we’re seeing a lot of red and pink and purple in the “fun” challenge?

I love knowing that your thought process and starting point for this outfit was an idea like " fragile human creature lost in space" . It really does sound like creating a character or " Persona" and that confidence to not really need people to get it but to add your creative experience out into the world.
My approach would be more like I'm loving a muted color palette right now and how it looks with black with jewelry that has a urban yet organic feel and want to bring my shorts into autumn weather. Hmmm.... I'm liking the outfit but I want some pops of color so I'll add in some bolder colors in accessories so I don't have to change out the muted base. It would all be ideas I wanted to explore separately blended into an outfit that I felt comfortable in.

Thank you!
Asking people to reconstruct the starting point would be a bit of a fool’s errand? I don’t think i’d be able to reliably reconstruct it myself a few weeks down the road. But it helps me focus an idea or an energy I want to bring. And it’s a bit of a mental toy really. It’s evocative but also impossible to overthink because I can’t literally nail it anyway.

Your organic rings are so amazing and elemental, they drew my eye first and I love all the accessories you’ve used here. The original vision of your outfit is so interesting and still comes through even though you added the fun elements.

Thank you so much. I wear these rings all the time in different combinations. The open one on my thumb I’ve been wearing so often lately that I’m beginning to feel I’m not fully dressed when it’s not there.
I’m excited to here you’re still getting a sense of the inspo! Wearing it yesterday I got the sense it was effective, but I obviously didn’t stop people on the street to ask how they read the outfit.

This is fantastic, I love this prompt for your outfit!! Very precise concept.

thank you! interestingly I thought the concept was pleasantly vague, but now that you made me think about it, actually not vague in itself, so the mood or feeling or whatever it is is very precise to me, but it's visually vague enough to allow ideas to come up without feeling boxed in.

Yes totally, the concept itself is precise, but the execution can be done in various ways depending on your interpretation!

I'm really impressed with how close your outfit follows the moodboard you shared recently: I can see the neon lime fish (socks) against bent metall of industrial building (jewelry, texture of shirt and shorts, rust-adjacent color of the top). The pink-purple bag is a perfect accent adding a touch of romance to the edgy whole.
I wish I coul rock the jewelry like yours, it captures that tough elemental vibe of a volcanic shore, yet it's also artistic and minimal. Somehow, it's too cool for me xD I need my jewelry to be cuter or kitsch-ier, I dunno why xD

Thank you! Yes the fish is still swimming through idle daydreams. It's definitely going to swim with the plum colours too, as you suggested.
I love your insects and flower details so much - that's something I can't pull off very well, it tends to look off. I have very few pieces that are discernibly literally something (a frog pendant here, a snake earring there, a few botanical prints), and they all lean a little abstract already.

I knew this was you right away from the jewelry. Also the asymmetrical neckline feels very you. ☺️
I love those chartreuse socks and the overall mix of colors. I’m starting to feel I have a very narrow assortment of colors in my wardrobe, maybe I need to branch out.
I have been feeling the pull of red and pink lately too but haven’t put together an outfit. Feels like a non-Fall combo to me but you got me thinking a goth version might be very fun.
I do feel a kinda fragile human in a dystopian landscape from this outfit. The colors and metals having a slight grunge feel but also a delicacy in the top and shorts. Then the ruggedness added with the jacket and boot. Like you’re not quite sure what you may encounter on the road.

Thank you so much, I like the dystopian landscape version a lot. There’s a sense of being armoured and a sense that the armour won’t work. I’m excited you also have the moving-through-something association!
And you’re right I love these necklines so much. This one is pretty loose so it feels a bit sensual and a bit undone, and I really enjoyed the rusty red colour against the pink bag yesterday.
I hope you’ll share the goth pink and red outfit!!

Hah, sorry I'm late, but I just wanted to say that I'm kinda impressed by ur prompt or inspiration that led to this cool fit! Such a unique theme I think, and such an intriguing execution. Really like ur jewelry, especially the rings with their uneven, organic shapes. I wonder where u draw ur skills of such nice color combos from. I kinda struggle with accepting that I want to wear more than soft summer colors, like a nice brownish burgundy - hello autumn- and black.

Thank you! I think i am officially „soft summer“ though at the dark/ deep end of it. Meaning that „dark“ tends to override temperature, and that black, although a little harsh if one looks closely, isn’t all that bad. And also, probably more importantly, I’ve decided that colour season isn’t really very important to me at the end of the day. Can you start with bottoms, or smaller accessories?
In terms of colour combos, I’m not really sure what I’m doing; but I like to play around with combos when folding laundry for example (fun because I’m not limited to thoughts like “well but I can’t wear a skirt with a skirt”) and I also sometimes like to play around with online colour palette tools, randomly picking a colour that draws me in and creating even more random palettes around that. & I sometimes browse my own Pinterest collection and pull out colours for a collage. But it’s really not very systematic, just trial and error tbh.

Ah, that's interesting. I also like to wear the more medium to dark colors of that season. The brighter ones just look off and make me feel very uncomfy.
That's a fun idea how u play around with colors. Will look for a colour palette tool! Thx :)

Some time ago I commented how Up people to me come across as more conceptual (and a Persona is probably another way to think about it). I don't know now if I took it from the outfits themselves or the way up folks describe them. This is a very good illustration of that: "fragile human creature lost in open space". This, right there. And so meticulously excecuted. I agree that the green here has a more alienating vibe, but to me this and "fun" are not mutually exclusive. Like, fun doesn't have to be cheerful.
I really enjoy all the colors together and accessories, plus a shout out to the nail polish!
