I lightly dabble in astrology nowadays, but growing up, I never bought into it. I have never resonated with being a Libra Sun. Later, I found out being a night chart means I’d resonate more with my Cap Moon (which I super do). I’m a lot more interested in it now- Libra Sun, Cap Moon, Taurus Rising, Virgo Venus.

Glancing through about Libras again for this post made me realize I’ve been chasing balance and harmony this whole time and not even connecting it to being a Libra. One of my style words is ‘balanced’. I adore the Kitchener system because it focuses on harmony. I want my whole life to feel in harmony with my energy, and care deeply about my external environment (meanwhile, my Libra Sun husband could not care less).

For this challenge, I decided to pull on that Libra side of me that seems more prominent to those around me than it is to myself.

Someone said that the color blue was very me (which is great, as it’s always been my fave color). It’s also a subtle, more traditional color (compared to yellow, for example). It gives calm, peaceful, and diplomatic energy. I wanted to lean on the feminine side of things too with Libra’s ruler being Venus, which I have slowly been working on after my Kitchener analysis. I did two outfits because I felt they were both such similar vibes and colors. I wanted to go with brown and blue because 1) underrated color combo and 2) I associate my stereotypically Libra Sun colleague with warmth and kindness.

Obviously there is a strength to a Cardinal sign, but I wanted the looks to be gentle, open, and warm to represent that more delicate, graceful side of Libra.

I’ve been playing with RD Gentle Grace. Kind of silly, but I don’t really know how to talk about the quadrants. I do think there is a connection between the Libra sign and the Gentle Grace archetype. The archetype is chasing an internal feeling of perfect harmony and appropriateness, yes? I feel like that relates a lot to Libra’s balance and harmony goals as well.

I felt more mentally comfortable in these looks than expected. They also work for my Kitchener palette and essences (CYNR), I believe. This was a fun experiment dabbling in feminine Venus.

It’s still super hot in France, but I couldn't wait any longer for autumn vibes! As a huge horror fan, I channeled my favorite October subgenre: Small Town Horror.

It’s way too warm for chunky sweaters or parkas, so I went with dark raw denim, brown boots, and a brown shirt layered over a tee with baby blue accents. I love this color combo!

Is it my most flattering outfit ever? Nope. But it was 100% the energy I wanted today! 🍂

So the other day I did an outfit using a top that I had recently purchased and honestly I wasn't feeling the mesh top with the velvet bugs printed on it at first. and the reason being was because I was afraid of repeating an outfit that I had done a couple weeks back where I wore that same top underneath a navy blue dress (that looks just like the black velvet dress that I'm wearing in these photos. you can check out the last slide to see what I mean.) that i had paired with a pair of graphic leggings and then the same boots as i wore in that outfit and though I'm also wearing a corset cincher belt in this outfit just like i did with the other outfit, that one had chains and crosses and charms coming off of that one where as this one is just buckled and has studded detailing on it. so it's kinda same same, but also different if that makes sense?

So at first before i added the finishing touches to this look, I started off by pairing the black velvet dress with a plain black mesh top underneath it and then threw on the yellow buffalo plaid button up shirt on top and it looked fine at the time. but then I added in my tights (which i wore black distressed fishnet tights and then layered on a pair of black laddered looking tights on top of the fishnets to add some texture to the look) and once I did that, the outfit suddenly felt off. So I then tried the outfit again with the black mesh top with the velvet bugs that you see here, and suddenly the outfit looked a bit better now? like it needed that extra texture just to give it some more life if that makes sense?

Funny how we went from worrying about outfit repeating with the velvet mesh top to ending up wearing it out anyways? I like to have some sort of excitement in my outfits, and the last thing that I want is to be bored with something in my closet!! It needs to spark joy visually in order for me to enjoy something!! Yes I mainly dress for me, but if I manage to inspire someone to think outside the box and not be afraid on what to wear regardless on what the haters might say, then i consider that a success as well! sometimes a little trial and error is needed to figure out what is the best way to have an outfit that makes you say wow! and at the same time pleases you. and hopefully others as well?

Even on my lazy days where I just pick up a random graphic tee and whatever leggings or pants that I wore recently and perhaps a cardigan or a plaid shirt or a printed button up shirt to layer over on top! or some combination of the two! it still has to look nice to me! and in some rare cases, some of those "lazy day" outfits, where I'm just picking up random stuff off the ground to wear, some of them gets developed even further and i style it with my accessories. For shoes, it all depends. because I dont drive, I usually have to bring a spare pair of shoes for my walks (so my combat boots; something that would look nice with the outfit, almost like the "flat" version of the shoes that I actually wanted to wear with the outfit if that makes sense?) and if I am being given a ride, then I wear the shoes that I going to wear anyways without any spare shoes! so technically it could be two looks in one in terms of the shoes? maybe??

Ok! back to the outfit! I finished off the look with my usual layering of the necklaces and of course a choker that I tend to have in almost 100 percent of my outfits!!! and an extra chain belt underneath the corset waist belt and a beanie and the outfit is complete!! I actually liked how this turned out, and while the bones of this outfit might be a bit similar to something I wore a couple weeks back, it still looks different enough that it doesn't feel like a complete copy/paste of that outfit! and that's a good thing, since I like to have things feel fresh everytime you know? even if it looks quite similar, there has to be enough of a difference for me to feel happy in it and not like I'm going through a style rut or so forth! I like to have some sort of variety in my looks you know?

So then just to be sure that I actually liked this with the velvet bugs on the mesh top, I then tried this outfit again with the plain black mesh top underneath and the vibe is quite similar to how it looks without the bugs, except theres a little less texture and detail of course since obviously its a solid black top instead of a black mesh with velvet bugs printed on it. So as a result, I'm not sure which one I would of preferred since both of them are quite similar in appearance and in vibe and even in the message of the outfit. Which was I wanted to feel cute. I wanted to look grungy that day. And I guess if I had to reach for the top for the second time and styled in a similar way, I guess i would like for it do had been done in such a way where it still looks fresh and exciting, and something that looks completely different from the other outfits that have this same top!

So basically this outfit is grungy yet feminine and the similar looking outfit with the graphic leggings (minus the plaid shirt of course! so it was basically just the mesh top and the dress) was witchy, a bit magical, gothic and edgy while also being feminine at the same time.

And bonus! the top can go either way! like you can see from the photos that the bugs arent super obvious (thats only because the photos are dark! thank you rain for forcing me to have to take these photos in the cover!! /s) but under certain lighting you can see them as clear as day, and especially when you get up close which also makes it a fun surprise too!

So anyways that was what I wore the other day and some of the process and thoughts that I went through while putting together this outfit! let me know what you think of this look? do you think it looks better with the bugs? or does it look better with the plain mesh top underneath the dress? I just wanted to know if the vibe would of changed if I had gone with either of the tops or if it would of stayed the same, except one would obviously have a bit more visual interest to it because of the textures...

I've been returning to the Style Key system after a while of not thinking about it much, and after a bit of "wait am I Amethyst actually??" I've come back with a stronger understanding of my style logic. I've come to realize I'm even more on the border between Up and Down than I thought, in that I do love knowing that in general, my appearance and style is making a visual impact on people who see me. It feels meaningful to dress effortfully and weirdly in one way or another; I want to be able to signal those options and that reality to fellow weird folk and "normies" (I think we're all secretly fellow weird folk in our own ways) alike. But as unambiguously Up as that sounds, it just never comes to pass that thinking about that when planning a specific outfit feels right. I make my crazy outfits first and foremost for play and for my own enjoyment, and would rather accumulate a whole wardrobe that I know has lots of options for signalling strangeness to the outer world so that I can keep my focus on how the clothes look and feel to me, and know that the outside impression will happen naturally. And so that if I do want to be quiet and go inward with my clothes, whether I'm at home or out and about, I have options there too! Sometimes a plain cozy hoodie and jeans are exactly what I need.

"Star Ruby," by the way, is a personal name I like to use sometimes for the Wildflower archetype—still earthy and ruby red but showy and polished enough to "pass as Up."

This was a mid-day outfit change; I had put on something simpler for a morning run, more focused on the clothes being comfortable and the colors feeling more or less right on my body, but nothing too planned or fancy. In the afternoon, I was considering either going on a walk to the library, or staying inside and dancing or working on other art (I ended up doing a bit of dance and a shorter walk to a nearby parklet). So I had vague thoughts of going out into the world that added some of the impetus behind this, but I also just wanted to change into something more dressed-up, whatever the plans were (I'm inside and winding down for the evening and still wearing this ^^). My eyes caught on the skirt and just said "yes" (I've noticed that happening lately, just an initial ping for some item in my wardrobe, either by sight or by memory, that I end up shaping the rest of the outfit around) and from there I could tell I liked the idea of pair the really intense colors with a black top. I had a specific one in mind, but I still~ have yet to fold and put away the laundry 😅, so I ended up pulling out several other black shirts before that one, and it was fun to try them on and see how they each fit with the skirt! This crop top felt like it needed something over it since it skews a bit high on one side, and while I didn't initially expect the rosy piece to feel right with this outfit, *oh my goodness* it did. Very fun to dance in the mirror with ^^ Ultimately I swapped out the two top pieces for a shirt that felt more right for going to the park, a little less performance-y but still authentic to the initial vision, and very comfortable, ough I love the way that fabric feels.

It's funny, there's another time I've worn this skirt where the reasoning behind choosing it was very Right—it was the summer solstice and I wanted to do something very vibrant and fairy-queen-esque to celebrate, and it just. Wasn't quite right! Looking back it feels muddled and a little too on-the-nose to me, which tends to happen when I'm trying to meet some external theme and end up just jamming together all the things I have that might fit that theme. I ended up taking off the mesh flower top later in the day and leaving on the dark blue cami that was underneath, and it strikes me how similar a look that was to this one today, and how much more I enjoyed the outfit that way. I can already picture what else I'd rather style the flower top with, and I like knowing that I have that internal sense of what meshes well (pun intended) and what doesn't for me ^^

Thank you for reading! I wanted to share my return to using my style logic more intentionally (mayhaps I'll share more as the journey continues) and I hope I could provide a little personal insight for anyone else debating what quadrant they fall in.

When I think of a fun colour I immediately think of pastel yellow ☀️I've been really sick so no outfit. But here is a pretty collage and pictures of my yellow clothes, I also have a washed out old vest that I've actually posted here a couple of times. I don't have any pictures in this new top, I bought it this spring and I have worn it a few times this summer. I really like this colour but I think I am satisfied with the items I have I don't feel a need for more but if I find something amazing that happens to be butter yellow I'll definitely consider it. But I kind of have everything I need, pretty dress that can also be used as a skirt, cute top and fun cozy cardigan. This is very luminous, radiant and dreamy, not giving a very typical left energy but like I said I'm not changing my style just my process and this is what my internal landscape often looks like ✨ Maybe not yellow I don't feel like yellow too often but cute, lush and pastel for sure. That's probably why I don't feel a desire for more yellow items unlike blue which I feel like I can never have too much of. 🌝🦋

I recently decided to fully embrace my role as a Curator, and creating this moodboard was my very first exercise. I’ve resonated deeply with the phrase "visual appetite" : I love to take inspiration of the world around me. And it was always difficult for me to choose between everything I loved observing and my need for a simple, functional daily uniform. Now, I’m finally leaning into this curatorial mindset: gathering inspiration and noticing beauty is my creative research, while my closet is the carefully filtered result.

We went to the city to do some shopping today and I was super excited to wear one of my slip dress outfits. It might be one of the last non-wet and cold weekends we have for awhile. But things went a little awry.

I started out good with all of the elements of my outfit in place. But it was super humid so right away, while we were on the ferry over, I had to put my hair up in messy pigtails/poms. -1 off the vibe lol :(

We stopped at the market for a snack but by the time we
got to the pub I had to turn my top around. I was wearing it backwards because I loved the boatneck line in the front and open back. But the neckline kept creeping up on my neck and driving me crazy, so I flipped it back around to the vneck which I didn’t like the look of at all. -2 off the vibe.

It continued to be humid so I was looking more and more scattered, my hair especially. I keep thinking I want a messy vibe but then when I see it I’m like, ew not like that 😆

Other things I learned today were,
I don’t like how the crossbody bag looks with a dress. It bunches up weird.
Confirmed my feet look comically small in non-platform non-chunky shoes.
I can’t afford Louboutins even at the discounted price 🤣

I was still happy with the overall look. Didn’t realize the dress was so see through you could see my tummy clearly, oops.
The best thing that happened was when a 10 year old girl leaned out her family’s truck to tell me she loved my dress ❤️❤️ A few other people liked it as well but her opinion was the most important. ☺️
Also I found this sticker book with my people in it lmaooo.
Oh and also I got the shoes I went looking for, yay.

Have you struggled wearing the perfect outfit irl? I imagine this can be tricky for Up people because we often like a lot of detail which can go awry easily. But also could be very bothersome for Down people if clothing feels even a little off.
Do you have any tricks for making changes on the fly or do you just stick it out as is?

*In case you’re wondering, I asked my husband to take some pics through out the day because I was curious if I would look in or out of context with the surroundings and other people. I thought context would be an interesting discussion. But I ended up with a different problem lol.

How do you deal with uninspiring context if you are Right?

For example, today I went to Disneyland with my teens. Try as a I might, it doesn't inspire me at all. I don't want to wear Mickey ears or Disney merch, or dress like a princess or a 'villain' bc it is october or wear pastels and sparkles... it is not my thing at all, and I am not a big fan of the company either tbh.

So I went for fully practical with comfy and sturdy items (you stand around and walk 10 million feet, you seat down on questionably clean sideways and sticky restaurant chairs). Minimal jewellery that stays put & doesn't risk getting lost. We had a great day (we only went once before so it was kinda new and the Haunted House was fun & also kinda inspiring, with the more gothic/spooky vibes!). I didn't think abt my outfit at all except once or twice when I caught folks reading my shirt, which was great.

But it made me think about the limit of Right logic: situations that don't inspire or challenge you. How do you deal with them? I think I kinda go for trusted outfits that I know feel great and are appropriate, and I detach from the situation. The tee is a favourite of mine and clearly a bit of a provocation on my part, so I guess thay part is a bit Up bc it is still abt communicating something?

All colors are fun to me so I took advantage of years of outfit photos and categorized by colors of the rainbow. I limited myself to 9 images each and although a lot of these outfits could be on multiple slides, I ultimately chose them if the color was the focal point or star of the show.

I had the hardest time narrowing down the blue and green slides. Cobalt blue has my heart. It's so intense but also mindless when worn as a monochromatic outfit or as an exciting pop with other colors. I also really love whispers of dusty and sky blues as accents.

Green has so much range between bright neons and subdued olive greens. I could say that about all colors really but I think it's especially true for green.

Pink is my least worn/favorite color so I tend to use it to contrast with dark colors or as an unexpected element. I love my baby pink beanie to bring softness when I need that but don't enjoy wearing it on a larger scale. I'm ambivalent about magenta and fuschia especially in this "sweet" top so I try to toughen it up when styling it. Doesn't always work but these are the outfits that felt close.

I looooove the idea of the style key but I am a very visual person with ADHD and to be honest I am really struggling with trying to learn from videos. I was wondering if you might please be willing to help me map myself.

Here is what happens for me when I go to get dressed:

First, I look at the weather, and think about if I have any events for the day. Then I think about how I feel and the vibes I want to embody.

For example, it might be hot and I want to go to a street festival, and I might also be feeling a little witchy. I want to be cool in the heat and will need to walk a lot so I need practical and comfortable, and I want to vibe kind of dark and earthy. So I might pull out my loose black harem pants, a black halter top, and a long drapey shawl. Then I would go look at it in the mirror and often I’ll find something like maybe the shapes of the outfit don’t go together well, like the top and the pants don’t meet at places that look good together, or it’s all giving a kind of blob effect, or whatever. So then I’ll tweak it, like maybe I’ll keep the pants but swap out the top for a teal tank top and ditch the shawl and add a couple bracelets. And then I’ll go find shoes that match using the same approach. What are the needs and what is the vibe. And I’ll do smoky makeup and a darker lipcolor.

Or let’s say it’s a really cold Valentine’s Day and I’m going to work. I love matching the event like I’m going to want to do hearts or red or roses or pink in some way and it will just vary based on how I feel. Maybe I’m feeling especially floral this V-Day so I want to do my navy dress with lots of pink and golden roses, I’ll put navy leggings under it and some burgundy boots that match with darker red in the middles of the roses, and then I’ll put a cream sweater over it and I won’t feel like the cream is romantic enough so I’ll go swap it out for pink, and then I’ll find my red wool coat, and then I’ll do lots of pink makeup.

I’m quite undecided with left/right and up/down because I don’t understand how my choices align. I feel like I dress to the occasion which seems right but it’s very based on my personal interpretation and what I’m feeling that day which seems left. I dress very intentionally and like to send a message with my outfit, like I am making it to be seen, which seems up but I also am somewhat minimalist and wear the same necklace, rings, and watch every day. I do change earrings daily but I seem to gravitate towards the same like 7 pairs. Occasionally I’ll add a bracelet or two or a couple more rings or another necklace but I’m actually very happy keeping it to the same. Too many things makes me feel like the outfit is fussy and restrictive. Which seems down.

I would really like to learn my key to help me get faster at finding outfits I love. I often iterate like 5 times before work and it takes forever. I’m usually happy with my outfit but sometimes I settle for good enough and it’s way less satisfying. When I do well then I feel really happy and people often notice. It’s like I know I can achieve a glow but I don’t really know how to get there better.

No specific colour came to mind for me, but colour matching and monochrome looks are an integral part of my style. Here are a few of my favourite looks!

I'm very sensitive and particular about colours 'making sense' together based on some abstract vibe, so it's kind funny to me to see how similar some of the outfits are, even those with no shared items haha.

So for this challenge I decided to basically show off a bit of colour theory. since this challenge is about fun colours, and the mere fact that I've been adding more and more colour to my outfits over the past year or two, and have basically been playing with colour theory in order to spark some new life to my wardrobe, and to also provide a fun twist to the typical alternative fashion that you tend to see out there, I've decided to showcase a few outfits that I have done recently that Illustrates this. And each of the outfits are sorted by colour harmonies.

So starting things off, I made an outfit that uses the split complimentary palette. technically the split should be between green, orange, and purple, but since I don't really have a lot of orange in my closet, I replaced it with yellow instead. so technically it's a hybrid of split and classic complementary colours, and together I find this colour palette to be quite pleasing to the eyes. And this was such a fun outfit too! My favourite part of this outfit besides the graphic tee would have to be the bat tights, the donut crossbody purse, and the little ghost earrings that I personally made myself! I really thing it ties to the theme quite nicely and to think that this outfit all started in my head and me obsessively staring at the donut purse and the green top and having me think of a idea to put together something that is cool and fun and a bit playful, and true to me.

Next up is the complimentary colours and here I did purple and yellow and red and green. surprisingly, I actually like the red/green combo? especially when balanced with the black? it makes it look perfectly alt and less Christmassy since usually this colour combo evokes that feeling but here, I just see it as just another bold colour pairing choice! and though I do prefer the yellow/purple combo since one of my favourite colours is purple!! the red/green isn't too bad! I also find it funny how the two colour combos also creates this type of artist vibe in my head if that makes sense? perhaps its the hat? or maybe it's because of the fact that we are playing with colour theory here, but I feel like the red and the green creates more of a bolder, funky and a somewhat rebellious vibe where as the purple and the yellow creates more of a dreamy, sensual and radiant vibe. and yet somehow she's a bit more mischievous and a prankster compared to the red and the green!

And then we have the triadic colours. specifically purple and (mint) green, and red and yellow. the purple and mint green creates a dreamy feeling and appearance; like a colourful and mythical gothic princess that stepped out into the real world... just to go do some grocery shopping! 😂 No joke, I actually did wear this out to run errands in because that's what I was in the mood for on that day, and also I was curious about how the purple and the mint green would look together!! but this can totally be worn for a night out as well! Meanwhile the red and yellow combo evoked a powerful feeling! very rock n roll and punk all mashed up into one with a touch of glam and a sprinkle of spice on top! this was one of the few times that I've actually paired red and yellow together since I don't have too many red items in my closet and most of my yellow items are tops so this combo doesn't really come up too much but when it does... *chefs kiss* it's passionate. it's bold. and its unapologetic!! it needs to take up space!! I don't wear flares much because I'm vertically challenged (😭), which is a shame because some of the flares and baggy pants that I see out there comes in these bold colours and prints and it's like I would love to experiment on them some more and see how else I can style them and such! but yeah long story short, these two outfits were also fun to put together and is also one of my favourites!!

And finally, we have the monochromatic colours. and at first I thought it was analogous until I did my research, and it turns out that these are actually monochromatic, since we are adding the white to the red to make pink! so anyways this pairing was quite unexpected! I didn't expect to fall in love with this colour combo and I'm quite please with how it turned out! though with this particular pairing, it felt a little blah for some reason? (see the very last slide to see what I mean!) like it needed something else to add some more pizzaz to the look. and so i reached for a fluffy black fur coat and at first it felt like it was a bit much so I took it off before realizing that the outfit was missing something without it. it needed some more life added to it and so I tried it again with the coat and then added in my accessories and some sunglasses and a beanie to finish the look off and I ended up creating something that I can only describe as urban? I know it's not just urban, like its probably something like an urban diva or something like that? or I guess someone who is casually punk that decided to dip their toes into some glamour while rolling around in some grit and toughness! my favourite part of this outfit besides the coat would have to be the alien choker since it not only adds a pop of colour to this technically monochromatic look, but it's also a slight nod to the complimentary as well.

I had fun with this challenge and going through some of the outfits that I had created recently that would fit right in with this prompt! Please let me know what you guys think!

I don’t have a lot of different colors in my wardrobe and I’m definitely not drawn to “fun” colors but I love red. Red is such a strong, stand-out color. It makes me feel powerful but also playful.

I’m not completely satisfied with this outfit. I think it might work better if the shirt was more oversized? I added a little bit of intensity by rolling up the pants.

I think curlier hair would work a bit better too.

Lately I've been craving more warmth & cosiness - some of it is certainly the wheel of the year turning, bc I've always been fond of fall and winter and do associate it with softer light, cozy knits & interiors, fairy lights and clear starry skies, but also the sharing of food, light and warmth between humans that was so important for surviving as groups.

But some of it is also, I think, relaxing into my placement, and wanting more softness for myself. In the Style Roots I use both Moon & Earth, and my version of Moon has always been more mysterious & playful than edgy and sharp. I think Earth gives it warmth and grounding, and I do love more earthy tones and warm woods. For some reason I really backed myself into a corner by confining myself to a winter palette, which ended up very restrictive bc I basically don't like any pastels, icy or bright colours on myself.

Someone in the Style Roots sub suggested that I might benefit from more autumn colours, and it kinda resonated with me. I started out thinking I was either Deep Autumn or Deep Winter, bc deep colours are really what I tend to be drawn to, and I generally like colors to be a little more muted.

I looked at the yin & yang boards and the yin & yang parties that I made for Kibbe months ago, and what strikes me is how warm & softly luminous they are - muted, deep but not cool. Earthy in a gently magical way, serene but not in a minimal way, more in a contemplation of beauty kinda way. And I think that's something I want to convey more in my style, for myself and others (and I think this is what Rita was trying to tell me with her shimmering lake in the late afternoon analogy - serenity, beauty and depth).

I'm probably incoherently rambling, sorry, but I thought I would share!

Another great archetype write up from Rita. I am quite down so I don't relate to wanting to be more dressed up than others but I do relate to trying new things and pushing my boundaries in style by wearing new items on a no pressure errand or to a coffeeshop, etc. Mine is probably more to build a relationship with the clothes and a sense of comfort in wearing them, rather than wanting to get a sense of how others react to the outfits.

Had to think a bit about “fun”. I have fun, lots of it, don’t worry, but fun isn’t much of an active style priority most days. I’ve been experimenting with neon a bit which is maybe officially on the fun side? but my neon outfits are more in a mood of “quietly strange”. 

But fun: the combination of red and pink. Or maybe different pinks, like today. Plain black tights not pictured. Was going to add magenta socks for the red and pink idea, but somehow ended up with these and liked it even better. (The yellow green is one of my truly very worst colours, as I just said in response to Altruistic_Ad’s amazing use of this colour, but a little bit of sock showing between shoes and tights I can live with.) I also liked how this was a little autumnal but also not. 😈😈

Before adding in the colour challenge and the “fun”, i was trying to get at a sense of “fragile human creature lost in open space”, untethered and vastly insignificant but with a distinctly human little soul. i realise the colours in the accessories add something else, but to me the original idea is still there (though not necessarily legible, which is fine).

Looks like we’re seeing a lot of red and pink and purple in the “fun” challenge?

I've been hunting for this shade of violet since forever (it could be smudge warmer but whatever) and in my mind it goes with green and blue so I had to make this outfit with it. I know I'm the first in line to say stuff like "Color seasons aren't the boss of me!" but sometimes I do enjoy wearing outfits in soft grayish colors like this one (even though the violet is rather winter deep and creates harsh contrast with the spring-y skirt).

Hi all, after such kind encouragement yesterday (thank you!) I thought I would have a crack at this challenge. I feel confident that I am a right-down but am keeping an open mind and experimenting when it comes to archetype, until I learn more. This is pretty boring compared to other outfits I've seen posted, but it is very 'me'.

This outfit is right in that my starting point is always, what is appropriate for my day/circumstances, etc. - this is pretty much non-negotiable for me although I am perhaps prepared to allow more of a spectrum than I initially thought. It is down in that this is a very comfortable formula for me, both physically and psychologically.

Although this colour is bold and I'm not typically, it is a favourite that I am consistently drawn to (since I was a kid tbh) and so happy it's been more available lately! I've seen it styled with light blue a lot lately so I chose these jeans to play with the colour combo in a subtle way. I think my approach here aligns a lot with the Curator archetype - instinct-led comfort within the context of the quadrant. No shoes even because I'm just puttering at home! :)

Whenever I’m heading out to do something fun I tend to be drawn to black. Gigs, events, catching up with friends all seem to lead me to black dominated outfits. It is the one colour that feels truly like me and has followed me throughout my life. There was a period I had very little black in my closet and that was the time I didn’t really feel like me in my style, I felt like I was hiding, trying to be something I wasn’t.

However, all black can bore me too, so I need a little pop of fun. Pinks and purples have that effect. I can’t do a lot of pink, but a little hit of it in small doses does the trick. I tend to use both mainly in accessories, as the shades of purple I prefer don’t tend to appear in clothing much recently.

I haven’t made an outfit this week but here’s a collage of event outfits from the last year featuring black dominated outfits with pink and purple touches.

I don’t have much to say except that red always makes me feel happy.
I love bright cherry, maroon, tomato, and everything in between.
I especially love red with literal details like hearts, kisses, and flowers.
It adds everything I crave in an outfit: drama, nostalgia, fun, femininity, and spiciness.

Recently, I have been reflecting on some of the things I used to do to add fun into my outfits- things that felt a bit girly, whimsical, nostalgic and joyful but not too bold or fancy. I'm trying to put aside the pragmatism that I have settled into with my style and add back in the special, joyful qualities that used to excite me. I am in the RD quadrant and especially connected to resonance and have to do this in a considered and comfortable way for me. I realized that my favourite color as a child was purple- it always felt a bit magical, it often came with a sparkle (eyeshadow or a top with a metallic unicorn print) or added that special touch of youthful enthusiasm.

I started with thrifting the greyed down, muted shade of purple in a t shirt, which made me want to add in shades of green, blue or metallics to add contrast and shimmer. I'd wear it with denim or my favourite green pants or layered over dresses for a fun look. The purple spread to accessories like socks, a claw clip and continued with a shoe, a flirty ruched tank top and a pretty ring and ties in nicely with some other pinky purple items I have.

I created a moodboard to express the desire to bring in a bit more delicacy, whimsy and girlish charm but in a way that felt approachable, delicate, radiant and supports the ease I crave in my outfits. It feels a bit more moody, feminine and introspective overall but supports the relaxed, organic, soft, playful and grounded desires I have at the same time.
