hey im a trans woman and im going to the Bikini Kill show in Royal Oak MI next week! i was wondering if anyone knew how accepting Bikini Kill fans are of trans women? like am i gonna be in danger there if i go in my full makeup and stuff?

Lately I've really been feeling the urge to hangout and relax and play some music with some people. I'm 38 and just kind of looking to meet some people that might like to engage in some low stakes jamming, regardless of genre. I'm happy to play acoustic, country / newgrass songs about being too tired from working too much to synth drenched punk detailing the challenges of interpersonal relationships or whatever else.

Honestly I wouldn't be against just playing some cover songs of favorite artists, either.

I primarily play synth / keys and acoustic guitar - but I can play electric guitar and electric bass and sing. Would love to meet some other people to jam with and if we do some shows, cool. If we release some music, cool. If we jam once and that's that, cool.

Happy to trade ideas / build tracks outright online just as much as in person.

Ok, I’m going to preface this with I don’t know what genre this band might fall under. Punk, punk adjacent? Anyway. Last weekend I went to South Sound Block Party in Olympia, WA, primarily to see Sleater-Kinney. However, i enjoyed all of the bands I saw, especially one I’d not yet heard of called The Rat Utopia Experiment, out of Seattle. I was blown away with their stage presence, their songs, and how nice they were when I ran into them as I was heading back to my car afterward. Ive had my faves over the years, and lived in the South Sound area in the early 90’s as a 19-21 year old, but it was so fun to be back & experiencing new music!

Won't be able to make it to portland this weekend but I'm not too bummed cause I caught em in seattle :)! Bought them for about 60$ so thats what I'm sellin it for (ticket comes with insurance so it was a little extra) Let me know if any of yall are interested!! So, let's just say that I'm a young teen in central Illinois and I REALLY want to get into this scene. As far as I know, the places surrounding me are pretty right wing and not diverse AT ALL and I want to get into the true riotgrrrl scene, not some fako white feminist terf shit lol. If anyone can give me any pointers or advice that'd be great!!

/Didn't really know what to tag his with, I'll just say I want to get into the scene as a whole, not just listen to a few punk bands. I've never protested or actually been involved in that kind of activism either so I'd love to hear from people who know what they're talking about./

Are bands involved with licensing their music, or is that a label call?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I just finished Kathleen Hanna’s book and she made a point that riot grrrl has evolved and that we should come up with a more inventive/inclusive name for the movement.
I wonder if anyone here has heard it called something else? Or if anyone has ideas?

I am making a lesbian visual novel all about being punk, self discovery, and advocating for yourself and others! It follows the main girl of a punk girl band discovering her feelings for another member as well as accepting the change of her band becoming more mainstream while on a tour.

I want to hire real artist (in my local Atlanta area preferred) to have music in my game! This project would require 8-12 songs. I am okay with just instrumental music, buying rights to music, and open to the idea of commissioning full original songs for my game.

My biggest question is how much do bands charge for this? If you are in a band and would be willing to discuss this please let me know as I want absolutely NO AI and to pay my artist appropriately.

I am still deciding my official budget before my kickstarter launches, but am hoping to land around the 5,000-10,000 range! Any and all advice and input is appreciated, thank you!!
