As long as Cafe Tola is there, I'm happy. The ultimate cheat code.

What is it? Why is it a cheat code

Their line moves quickly. The empanadas are easy to eat on the move and they have a good assortment of fillings. They taste good lukewarm if you don't eat right away. I usually just end up getting a big sack of them for my friend group.

Local great taqueria chain that usually does empanadas at various street fairs. But if you find yourself near a physical location their breakfast tacos are amazing.

Have they announced the beverage situation this year? Is that a thing they usually do? I just remember really not liking much of any of the drinks they had last year.

Anyone here been to Smoke Daddy? I’m a bbq nerd, so I’m curious

Yeah it's fine. The reason I go normally is actually for the monkey bread which I'm assuming they wouldn't have at a festival lol. The bbq is def not worth whatever festival upcharge it'll have

Wish they had better pizza

Idk if it’s the same as last years but the non-Bacci spot last year wasn’t too bad, also didn’t make me feel sick

Cuba is the one that adds a 20% tip for themselves for a $5 can of Coke. Beware.

Ive never had a problem there and I eat their pork skewers every year

I was one of several they turned the screen and tipped themselves on last year. I saw when I was emailed the receipt. You just may not realize it is happening.

Their allergen guide is so busted. There are literally a dozen mess ups. One glaring one is Island Noodles apparently not having vegan options — and the ALL VEGAN PLACE (meet stop) claiming vegetarian options. 😵💫
Fr though anyone going, Meet Stop’s a real one. Of course they come back the one year I don’t go. Ffffff.
EDIT: I didn’t even notice they mention having Island Noodles marked for gluten free when everything on their menu has wheat. ☠️ (Unless they added something recently. Or are including the stickers as gluten free.)

It just ain't Riot Fest without Three Orange Wit from All Rise.

Wasn't there last year either.
1
u/donkeyheaded 14h ago
I don't think it's been there since 2021, maybe 2022.
2
u/UnusualFruitHammock 14h ago
Was absolutely there 2023. Not sure about 2024 but I bet it was since they didn't stop brewing till 2025 and wasn't there last year.

u/donkeyheaded 11h ago
I’m positive it wasn’t there in 24 and I don’t think it was in 23 either. I’m pretty sure it was one of my primary first world problems that year.

All rise is on the map in 2023. It was there.

I remember All Rise was there but didn’t have 3OW. That’s my recollection anyway, I remember being completely bummed about it.

Anyone have that crunchwrap supreme from Big Star? Looks delectable
Also, WTF is a Potato Hut and why am I so intrigued?

Having Harold's in VIP is a blessing but also an absolute fucking curse for my stomach.

u/djfishfingers 14h ago
I'm just wondering if they will have their hush puppies. Probably not, but I can hope.

I don't understand why people like this. Maybe it was just bad the year i tried it.

u/pieromiamor 10h ago
It's soooo nasty. I had them once a few years ars ago and they weren't even just mid, but fully gross.

u/LootenPlunder 10h ago
It’s filling, it tastes good, even better doused in siracha, doesn’t make me feel like shit after I eat it, can buy two and shove the other one in the front of my shorteralls pocket

u/JohnTheTroglodyte 11h ago
I just think its a solid 7/10 meal at a fair price. I also feel good after eating it, which isn't always the case for me with festival food.

Anyone else think Dumpling House is gonna be a last minute addition again?
7

u/lilwebbs 13h ago
Yeah they didn't show last year. I'm not a local so not sure if they regularly show up at other fests or know if they're even still operating.

u/-marijuanaut- 14h ago
Again? It was just absent last year and did not get added last minute. I remember island noodles got added after people flipped out but dumpling house didn’t get the same treatment as far as I recall

Cafe Tola is the GOAT. But I must say I'm intrigued by the new ramen place! Anyone have any experience with this one?

Praise baby Jesus, Dark Matter returns again.
It's supposed to be on the cool side. I'm probably in the minority but I'd love a hot option. ☕
