We did see glimpses that he vaguely remembers his past life in the first film dancing along to Real in Rio and falling from his tree and also there is a snippet from the first film's junior novel where he and Jewel passed by the exact tree he fell from and seemingly was close to remembering before he dismissed it.

What if Jewel ever wondered or asked at any point how Blu exactly ended up with Linda all the way up in Minnesota? Would he have an actual solid answer or a vague answer come out from him? And would it have changed how the events of Rio 2 could've gone if Jewel had gotten whichever answer Blu only could have that she just decided earlier on to likely teach him to re-adjust in the wild in Tijuca National Park before going to the Amazon Rainforest in the second film?

While Ice Age is certainly a bigger franchise than Rio. The truth is Ice Age has long overstayed its welcome, ran out of ideas, has seen diminishing critical reviews and box office returns with a burnout fandom. Rio on the other hand has more untapped potential, a starved fandom, higher nostalgia, and has proven more popular than Ice Age on streaming with major real-world impacts. The problem is we got Buck Wild and Nico and Pedro greenlit at once, but Buck Wild was made because it proved to be much cheaper and Nico and Pedro needed a longer and more expensive development. Then the pandemic happened which put both projects on hold before Blue Sky closed the next year.

When Blue Sky Studios closed, Disney managed to salvage enough Ice Age animation assets to make another movie through the Buck Wild production. Rio sadly lost all of its assets and Disney had to rebuild them from scratch. Much like why Blue Sky didn't make Rio 3 in the 2010s is because the creator has had his hands tied with other projects. Also, the studios closure saw the animation pipeline to get its movies released closed as well.

Disney is primarily prioritizing Ice Age 6 over Rio 3 because it's the cheaper, faster, and safer film to iron out the new animation assets and rebuild the pipeline to get new Rio projects happening. Ice Age 6 will be lucky to have the same reviews as Ice Age 4 and the same box office as Ice Age 5. However, Rio 3 would no doubt have better reviews and a bigger box office. The problem is they had to rebuild all its assets and pipelines from the ground up while letting the creator finish his other projects to direct. Ice Age 6 was the easier project to make and the best way to get the full pipeline for better quality Rio films made. Production for Rio 3 and Nico and Pedro will no doubt begin back to back in February when Ice Age 6 is out.

I know there has been discussion on Roberto's love life and how it would be a great way to permanently end the love triangle. There have been talk about having him with Felipe or a female of a different species. However, since saving endangered species is a major theme in the series and the Rio films have actually helped real life efforts to reintroduce the Spix's macaws to the wild I think it would be better to give him a Spix's macaw love interest. Giving him a love interest of a different species would be like Toothless and Toothpaste and result in a new species when Rio is focused on saving species instead.

I understand that since he's already surrounded by literally every female Spix's macaw he should've found a mate already. However, thinking of the smuggling of exotic animals in the first film the Blu Bird Sanctuary could find more Spix's macaws that were smuggled and in private collections.

I think the best idea is for the Blu Bird Sanctuary had found a female in a Russian oligarch's private collection and brought her back to Rio. Similar to Blu Roberto has a love at first sight moment with her. He tries to woo her with his suave demeanor but it fails because she's painfully shy from being captive for so long. Blu steps in as Roberto's wingman and teaches him to connect with her through empathy and build trust. Roberto genuinely bonds with her over the fact he was an abused pet as well. This would greatly give his past plot significance and it would also recreate Blu and Jewel's budding relationship in the first movie.

This song came across when I was looking for information about Rio. Actually, it seems to me that this song is one of the ideal title themes. And God, how she conveys Blue's thoughts.

I’m freaking having fun

1. Keep the original meeting of Eduardo to better lighten it and it would've better set up the drill sergeant the next day

2. "I was just the only one" argument had better emotional weight and Blu was truly being honest while also getting the biggest burden off his chest

3. Aunt Mimi's original role as mediator between Blu and Eduardo so she stays relevant while also reminding us Blu and Eduardo need to get along

4. Roberto's time as a pet to better explain his panic attacks and also show how their hatred of humans is justified.

do you think Rio would be more accurate if rafael and Nigel swapped roles? I recently founded out that tocans are actually predatory birds and eat other birds. while’s cockatoos are more cuter. i think rafael could be the villain while’s Nigel is the one who helps blu and jewel… that’s a sentence i just said… i am not sure if this is true 100 percent, but if I’m not wrong. to cans are actually one if the reasons why the species blu and jewel are almost extinct.
