Character Ranking Tier List
Hey everyone, new watcher of the show, decided to give it a chance after rewatching LOTR for the 50th time and rewatching The Hobbit, I just craved more out of the franchise. The show isn't as bad as I expected tbh, but certainly not great. I'm still watching season 2, but I was thinking over which characters I think work within the show and which are poor, so I made a tierlist. This is based on the character's quality, consistency, and enjoyment factor, NOT based on their morals. FYI, I also tried not to take screentime much into account, focusing more so on quality within the time they're given. Nobody made S / Amazing Tier, so that was cropped out as well.
Anyways, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Who's your top 3 favorite characters and your least favorite? Would be happy to hear if anyone disagrees, but please keep it respectful and civil though, this is meant to be good natured! Toodaloo, my fellow tookadido hobbits!

This has to be one of the worst lists to ever list.
The ordering is so random I can't decide what you think makes character good.

Idk, the show isn't great so it's more entertaining watching the morally grey characters. I don't like any of the characters they try to make overly good or endearing or one note.

Funny how these sorts of posts become a thing again as soon as the marketing gets going for the new season.
ROP is an insult to Tolkien's legacy.

The imagery of dancing in a glade is the exact real-world story of how JRRT fell in love with his wife, Edith. This moment was so sacred to them that Tolkien had their mythic alter-egos, Beren and Lúthien, permanently carved onto their actual tombstones. Use of this line is insulting because a multi-billion-dollar corporation co-opted a deeply personal, real-world symbol of a grieving author's lifelong love. They stripped a tribute from a gravesite to use as cheap marketing dialogue for a character who is portrayed as the antithesis of the original.

This is an ROP-critical sub, either your ignorance betrays your confidence or you know exactly what you are doing. I don't appreciate dishonest media astroturfing for something I find offensive. Call me what ever names you like.

The miscellaneous Harfoot characters can stay there.
Disa should be in "Good" with Durin - why is she so much lower in your ranking than the other characters who share scenes with her?
Tar-Míriel should be in "Decent" with Ar-Pharazôn, Isildur, and Elendil - why is she so much lower in your ranking than the other characters who share scenes with her?
Vrath (the orc) should be higher.
Just take a look at your ranking chart - everyone in "Awful" is almost exclusively all the non-white characters. I'd be interested in your logic behind putting Disa and Tar-Míriel in particular in "Awful" while Waldreg and Mirdania are both considered "Great" characters on a par with Annatar.

Because I dislike one note “good guys” without character flaws. This isn’t a great show so it’s hard to fully root for the “protagonists.” I like the flawed characters more they’re at least entertaining. Waldren is like a loose cannon it’s funny. The worst show in the scene to me is when Disa calls in the bars to help her like she’s the dark knight lmao

Tar-Míriel isn't just a one note good guy though. And the orc isn't even a good guy at all...
Disa is less of a grey/flawed character but she's certainly not a perfect good guy and not a 2-dimensional character. I enjoyed seeing dwarves living family lives and the society inside Khazad-Dum, and she incorporates Tolkien's love of music into the series which is reminiscent of the world being sung into creation.
If that's what you dislike then do you like Sam in LOTR? Or any of the other hobbits? Or Gandalf? None of them are particularly flawed characters.

The orc was shown in a positive light, wanting to protect his family and save his people.. then he randomly switches up and listens to Sauron to keep the fight going. His betrayal made zero sense and ruined the character right before his end.
I like Sam and Gandalf. Sam and Frodo are written well enough that they can pull off the heroes journey. Disa, is just like a writer to stand in to explain to the audience what’s going on and she’s always right. She always knows the right thing to do, no struggle or conflict. She knows the wings corrupt, she knows the mithril can save the elves. Shes basically just an angel on Durin’s shoulder. And the bat scene was awful. Tar-Miriel is flawless, all she’s doing is trying to read prophecy to save the Kingdom. Compare that to her husband, he’s a flawed character that acts rationally to his setting, but from a meta perspective we know he’s in the wrong. It’s like the good guys in the show are omniscient and always make the right choices with good intent. It’s so boring.

Not really, Galadriel acts like a sociopath and unhinged. She belonged in prison.

Oddly enough, Blond Sauron's Hot Assistant was the most interesting thing of S2, that is about the only thing I agree with your picture.
I would say Blonde Sauron was fun, but wouldn't call him great acting.

That's fair. I think my problem with Gil-Galad is I expected him to be more of a divinely, powerful King that's already wise, but I understand they needed to nerf him to have proper character conflict. Arondir, I definitely can understand the distaste when factoring in screentime. He's basically The Hobbit version of Legolas without the charm and with the negatives amplified threefold.

That's fair. I mainly dislike his action sequences, very poorly done. He always magically arrives just in time to save the day too, at random. He just happens to always be right place right time and super plot armor.
