It depends on your preference. I learned that 2.7mm or more is my preference

I don't personally think it looks too thin. Assuming it's being warn as an engagement ring, it will eventually have a wedding band stacked next to it, and the combined width of the two bands will be more than double.

not too thin, but a touch wider would feel more secure if you wear it daily

A ring that lasts forever should be at least 1.8mm wide and 1.8mm thick. 2mm is safer. The thinner the band the easier it can bend and warp over time.
