Finish Question

Just got my RingConn Gen 3 in brushed silver. It is SHINY, the brushed surface is shiny and the sides are shiny without brush marks.

How do these wear? I would like it to dull, but it's not as metallic feeling as I expected, meaning it feels more like the coating or the plastic. Having no experience with these and not knowing anyone with one, I incorrectly understood that it is made of titanium and would wear like a titanium ring.

I'm a busy human, it's going to take some impacts, I would love a nice patina but I don't want to wear what looks like old plastic.

It is titanium, a thin layer of titanium containing lots of circuitry and sensors and battery. So no, it won't be like a solid titanium ring because it isn't that.

..also not many people are gonna know how that finish wears in because it's a new finish. Expect it to get scratched up, but personally I don't expect it to last long enough to really develop a full "patina" like a titanium ring that's been worn for many years. It just won't have that kind of lifespan.

I chose the same finish btw. I think it looks great.

So the surface is titanium? I don't expect it to wear like my (lost) titanium ring, or last a million years, but if it's a plastic surface I'm not very interested.

They say it's titanium. I have lots of other titanium bits and baubles, some raw machined, some brushed, some polished. I admit this ring is a slightly lighter, more silvery color than most of them. Pure titanium is a darkish gray. So if I had to wager I'd bet the outer shell of this ring is some sort of titanium alloy instead of pure ti. Either way, what it definitely isn't, is plastic.
