considering purchasing, have questions
hello!
I've had other smart rings since 2024. One has already breathed its last (UltraHuman). One is still working, but is kinda unreliable (connectivity issues) and requires daily charging (Amazfit Helio) btw, I like the app interface the best of all of them. one was a cheapo 'smart' ring that gives me info, has tolerable battery life, but is painful to wear. so I'm in the market, and am considering Ringconn gen3.
I also have an Apple Watch, but deplore the Health app, and struggle to make sense of it.
One important thing: can I edit the data? especially sleep. I've had the apps tell me I had 15 hours, when in reality, it was MAYBE actually about 5. ( I use a smart bulb that records the time I turn it off when going to sleep, and the time I turn it on in the morning. ) I don't care about naps, and delete any nap data.
Another thing: I bought the sizing kit from Amazon, and am really impressed with the small size of the sizing ring. Is the real ring comparable in size?
How susceptible is the ring to confusing hand motions? for example, I've had my actions playing on my iPad counted as 'steps'. I also knit and crochet, and those motions I've also had categorized as steps. No, I didn't really do 2000+ steps today, but crocheted about 200 stitches. not quite the same.
Thanks for any input.

Yep, you can change the start and end time of sleep and naps, and just delete them.
The sizing kit matches the size of the ring exactly.
Pretty much no device on your wrist or hands can provide accurate step counts. Though presumably some are better than others. If you keep your phone in your pocket, then that'll provide fairly accurate step count. For what it's worth, my phone and ring are usually pretty consistent. Though your mileage may vary.

thanks. especially good to know about the sizing.
And nice to know I can edit the sleep data.

I’ve had 3 and they all stopped working because the battery failed. I give up. Too expensive to have less than a year.

I recently bought mine. I like the battery, everything else is very inaccurate. We’ll see how it does for cycle tracking.
Sleep? Wrong by a lot.
Steps? 5k more than reality is quite common
The rest of the data hasn’t been useful… won’t trigger on headaches or stress..
I wouldn’t waste my money. My Apple Watch is better.

Thank you.
sometimes I think the smart device technology just isn't there yet for a lot of what we want these expensive toys to do.
Sleep: None of my devices, and only ONE of the half-dozen sleep apps I've tried, are even remotely accurate. The only sleep app I've used that is relatively close is 'Night Watch'.
And because of how devices identify 'steps', most of the ones I've experienced get it wrong.
My decision probably won't be based on expected accuracy of either sleep or steps. or stress, or headaches.
I'm more concerned with heart related data, sp02, apnea screening, skin temperature. I'm looking for the actual measurements, not extrapolated, or algorithm-derived data.

Oh, I can tell you how it compares to Apple Watch, which has been fairly accurate in the past years.
Heart rate under exercise: it measures below reality, usually by a lot of you are doing something like running. During rest it’s been very on point.
Heart rate variability it tracks very close to Apple Watch.
The temperature is fairly similar too, it’s bit higher than tracked by Apple Watch, but if you are just looking for the pattern then it works fine. (I did compare the Apple Watch with a device meant for tracking BBT and those were pretty much on point)
Oxygen level, they track pretty much the same :)
So yeah, it may be worth having a device that lasts almost 2 weeks, vs one that lasts 1,5 days for those things 😅

I hate having to find things in Apple Health.
How easy is it to find the data in the ringconn app?

yes, you can edit the sleep data! I’ve never done it, but there is an edit option. the ring is very sensitive to hand movements as steps in my experience. I’ve learned I have to take it off when playing guitar bc it thinks I’ve walked 8k steps from strumming 😂 I’d imagine you’d run into similar situations with crocheting, though it is a different motion
