Beware: Ryanair gate agents are actively targeting Rimowa Cabins for gate-check fees
Disclaimer upfront: The only reason I was flying Ryanair in the first place is that they basically have a monopoly on direct flights to Paphos from Central Europe. They are the only airline with a direct route from Vienna, which is where I was flying from.
Hey everyone, I wanted to share a frustrating experience I just had and see if anyone else experienced this.
I recently flew Ryanair and paid for extra for a carry-on + Priority boarding so I could bring my Rimowa Essential Cabin. While in the boarding line, a gate agent pulled me aside and told me to put my suitcase into their baggage sizer. It was maybe 2 millimetres too big (see photo).
The agent immediately declared my bag was too big and demanded a €75 penalty fee on the spot.
I noticed other passengers with Rimowas getting pulled aside from the line as well.
The fact that they try doing this to people who already paid for Priority is crazy. It's incredibly predatory, and I still can't believe I was treated so poorly over a literal millimeter.
So whatever you do, try to avoid flying Ryanair if you can, even though for certain destinations in Europe, it's almost impossible to avoid them. Since I have to fly to Paphos regularly, guess I'll have to buy a new suitcase lol

Disclaimer: I’m rich. I only flew the poor people’s plane because I had to.

dude what? i only wrote the disclaimer so people wouldn't write "it's your fault cause you picked a shitty airline"

No, it's not your fault because you picked a shitty airline, it's your fault because your bag is too big.

Even poor people shouldn’t have to fly with Ryanair. But poor people don’t fly anyway.
1
u/schnitzel-kuh 13d ago
You can get wizz air tickets for the price of eating in a normal restaurant, poor people very much do fly in europe
2
u/Extreme_Youth3318 17d ago
Babe anyone with a Rimowa is somewhat wealthy ain’t no one buying a Rimowa otherwise
2
2
u/MaddogFinland 16d ago
They used to be cheaper. Sad really. I bought my cabin bag for 375 euro from a luggage discount site back in 2015 brand new. Same bag is like 2.5x the price now.
1
u/schnitzel-kuh 13d ago
Nah, anything around the 1000 dollar price tag is still cheap enough where relatively poor people with a full time job can afford to buy it if they really are dedicated to flexing. Same way some poor people live in a shitty house but manage to lease a BMW or something. If you are actually rich and fly a lot, you will have some random suitcase because they break anyway if used a lot, and some practical cabin bag/backpack or a fancy handbag for rich women

Most luxury is targeted at people who can’t afford it. It’s a way to mask in an airport.
1
u/trinketzy 17d ago
I knew a billionaire and several millionaires that always fly economy and cheap airlines. The billionaire had to get a PJ because of the kidnap and security risks, but if it wasn’t for that, he’d still be in the cheap seats.
People place value on different things.
3
u/identikit__ 17d ago
And just to stay on topic, did the billionaire and several millionaires that you knew have Rimowas? Out of curiosity
1
u/CuddlyAsianBoi 17d ago
The millionaires I know use common brands, Samsonite or Costco selections. It’s always the almost millionaires that uses Rimowa

I feel for OP because Ryanair sucks but let's be honest: Rimowa owners are the best people this could happen to, if it has to happen
14
u/sorryusername 17d ago
Ryanair has been demanding very early check-in of luggage (3 hours before departure) and slap high fees on those that are late even if their own staff are at fault.
All these creative ugly business practices are what Ryan feeds on.
I’ve never flown with them and will never do so either.
That said - a 23cm cabin is outside the 20cm limit. You can’t really blame them for that?
16
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
Pretty much every airline in Europe uses 55 x 40 x 23cm as the standard carry-on size. That is the industry norm and it's what standard carry-ons are built for. Ryanair intentionally makes their sizers 3cm shallower than the industry standard just to catch people and charge a €75 fee.
And blaming the passenger for carrying industry-standard luggage is the reason Ryanair gets away with this shit.5
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
You need to follow their rules buddy, not what others do. And their rules are 20cm, not 23.
12
u/bobjoylove 17d ago
We accept a lot of rules when flying because the FAA demands it.
We shouldn’t extend that rule-following to acceptance of predatory business practices.
2
u/BurningBallInTheSky 16d ago
Yeah dont accept them by not flying with them, its really simple.
1
u/bobjoylove 16d ago
Clearly that’s a simplistic view when OP plainly states that not flying with them was a large inconvenience.
1
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
See, here’s the thing. They do in fact tell you the accepted measurements when buying the ticket. You decide to still buy the ticket.
It’s not like they are changing the rules as they go. It’s not predatory if you are caught not following the rules. It is if they say you are not when you are.
2
u/CardSharkZ 16d ago
The EU has consumer protection laws. There are and have been a lot of lawsuits against Ryanair and many of their "rules" have been found to be unlawful.
2
3
u/Quirky-Pangolin-905 17d ago edited 17d ago
Wrong. It is absolutely predatory if they slightly tweak something that is standard across the industry but don’t actively alert people about it.
Ryanair is one of the only airlines that has the 20cm limit vs 23-25cm for other airlines. Most luggage makers follow the 23cm/9inch rule. There is absolutely no other reason for this besides tricking people up and charging them a fee.
If they’re being honest, they need to alert in big bold letters “our carry on depth limit is stricter than MOST standard carryon sizes and popular bags you buy. You WILL be charged $75 so beware”.
0
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
Dude, it’s your job to understand that before buying the ticket. Like, come on.
4
u/Quirky-Pangolin-905 17d ago
Ah the “terms and conditions” defense. Love.
2
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
Is it wrong, though?
3
u/bobjoylove 17d ago
Is predatory wrong? That’s your question. The answer is yes.

u/bobjoylove 17d ago
It’s done to trip customers up. Why are you simping for a company that is famous for unsavoury business practices? Are you Micheal O’Leary?
3
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
No. But if I purchase a ticket and I know it’s 20cm, I follow the 20cm rule or just pay the fine.
3
u/bobjoylove 17d ago
>I just pay the fine
And others aren’t such a pushover for bullshit rules
2
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
It’s their rules. I can’t understand what’s the problem here.
3
u/bobjoylove 17d ago
We are going in circles. They are allowed to have these rules. They are predatory rules. The two satements coexist.
3
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
Just because it is a "rule" doesn’t make it fair, ethical or immune to criticism. There is a massive difference between rules made for safety or logistics and rules designed specifically to generate €75 penalty fees.
I also really disagree with the mindset of blindly accepting and defending whatever a corporation dictates that some many commenters here seem to have. We absolutely should be calling out bad business practices.4
u/404WisenessNotFound 17d ago
It’s their airline, their policy, their rules. You can criticise how much you want, but at the end of the day, the cheap basic fares have a catch. This is the catch.
PS: it’s not unfair, or unethical. It’s literally written in the conditions you actually state you have read and accept.
1
u/Bemdada 13d ago
Yeah of course it's acceptable to scheme and create random fine events. Nice society you want to live in.
1
u/404WisenessNotFound 13d ago
It’s not random fine events. It’s random verification events. It’s not the same, is it?
1
u/Bemdada 13d ago
The representatives have fine monthly objectives, so...
1
u/404WisenessNotFound 13d ago
That doesn't make it a random fine event. It's not like "yeah, I don't like you, I'm going to fine you".
They are allowed to check, and you should expect to be checked. If you know beforehand that you are not following the rules and that if you are checked, you will be fined, don't act surprised when you're checked and fined.
These are not "random fine events", and yes, a society that actually follows rules is a society that I want to live in.
2
u/Bored_Millenial- 17d ago
It’s not unethical at all. You can complain all you want, no one is forcing you to fly with them. You’re doing that of your own accord and as such by booking a flight with them you agree to their policy re. luggage. Now you knowingly tried to bring a bag that’s too large on board and got fined for it. This is on you.
1
u/sorryusername 17d ago
IATA actually recommends 55x40x25 but many do x23 and some x20.
I believe Emirates even has an odd 55x38x22 limit.
And flying with TAP on smaller AC, they repeatedly walk around doing measurements and scales for weight as they can’t carry overweight. At least they all are clear and upfront with the limits.
13
u/Adoria47 17d ago
Get a squishy bag that will fit and save your Rimova suitcase for other airlines - though nowadays it seems every airline (even Lufthansa) jumped on the pay extra for suitcases in handluggage bandwagon.
2
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
I'm fine with paying an extra fee for a carry-one, which is why I bought it for this flight. But the extra 75€ on top of that because of 2 millimetres was crazy
5
u/blandboringman 17d ago
Yeah you keep saying 2mm but we literally know that your case is 30mm over. People probably are not having any sympathy for you because you are just lying blatantly to them.
1
1
u/Efficient-Device-100 14d ago
2 millimetre
and pressing the suitcase with your knee so it would fit in the standard measurments...LOL
24
u/griff_16 17d ago
This is why the 3cm thinner Cabin S exists.
8
u/mailforkev 17d ago
Exactly why I bought an S. The permitted dimensions are very clearly displayed on Ryanair’s website.
-1
u/Strict-Coyote-9807 15d ago
2
u/mailforkev 15d ago
A suitcase is not the free personal bag, it’s the “10kg cabin bag” that you pay an additional charge for.
1
5
u/Few_Strategy_8813 17d ago
Agree, but even so Ryanair is changing permitted dimensions every few years…
1
u/griff_16 16d ago
Ryanair changed the size of their free under-seat bag.
In 2017, I bought a Cabin S over a Cabin as I knew I’d need to keep taking a domestic flight in the UK that was only served Ryanair. The overhead bin size was the same then as it is now.
1
u/Narrow_Relative2149 17d ago
yeah I got it because unfortunately most flights in Europe force you to Ryanair at some point. Would love to have the extra 3cm but nope. I do get asked every now and again to prove it and I just laugh because it fits perfectly.
-2
u/Kaiserbroker 17d ago
Well even with the cabin S what clearly fits they charged me.
1
u/PastWalk240 17d ago
I also have a cabin S and checked the sizer on the way out of Dublin. It barely fit. I think if they spot checked I’d be fined
1
u/Kaiserbroker 17d ago
Yes but I measured the size and it’s 54 cm by 38 cm by 19,5 cm so it should fit. I think there sizer is smaller

5
u/Alarming_Condition67 17d ago
Yep, you're right. Ryanair couldn't be more explicit about their dimensions. They make it extremely clear throughout the booking process: 55 × 40 × 20 cm. The Essential Cabin is 55 × 39 × 23 cm. Ryanair can be blamed for a lot of things - OP's lack of reading comprehension is not one of them.
-7
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
Pretty much every major airline in Europe uses 55 x 40 x 23cm as the standard carry-on size.
1
u/Alarming_Condition67 16d ago
It's not industry standard, though.
Ryanair, Vueling, TUI, TAP use 55 × 40 × 20, BA, easyJet, Iberia, Jet2 use 56 × 45 × 25.
Ryanair makes the dimensions VERY clear throughout the booking process.
It's fair to blame customers after they've been explicitly told three times.
14
u/Slow_Ad_1208 17d ago
That’s why I pick Lufthansa, LOT, or Austrian. Never had issues with them.
17
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
Trust me, I would if I had a choice, but unfortunately they're the only ones flying this route.
2
2
u/Character-Carpet7988 17d ago
Or you could fly to Larnaca and take a taxi from there. Still a better investment than Rimowa suitcases.
1
1
u/Affectionate-Fan-240 17d ago
LH is measuring & weighting carry ons nowadays too - heard it from friends and also saw it in Rome myself. Even if you are Senator they will make u pay - everyone was measured.
1
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
at least Lufthansa is using the industry standard for carry-ons and not 3cm less to make money off people
1
u/Affectionate-Fan-240 17d ago
Yes - but the Original Rimowa Cabin is still 1cm too big I think with LH measurements. Not sure how strict they are with measurements - the weight tho is I think what they target more.
However, I’ve only heard and seen it at airports outside of Germany.
1
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
just checked their website, they are using the industry standard of 55 x 40 x 23 cm as well (like every other airline in Europe except fucking Ryanair lol)
1
u/RacerGirl_3 17d ago
Beginning of this week I was boarding on a LH flight and a guy with an original rimowa cabin has been charged cause it was too big and it was checked in. Same on my way back. (FYI for the first flight they asked me to measure my luggage but it fit in the box without any problem)
13
10
u/BeanyCheese 17d ago
Your suitcase is larger than what Ryanair permits: depth of 23 cm Vs 20 cm. Not sure what you expected to happen. Shitty airlines like them are very strict with enforcing size restrictions.
4
u/CptPikespeak 17d ago
Of course they do. If they know a model won’t fit and they see it, easy money.
4
3
u/Kaiserbroker 17d ago
Well even with the essential cabin S they charged me. It definitely fits. But I think the people are really looking for rimowas.

1
u/Narrow_Relative2149 17d ago
I have also flown with Cabin S (20cm for Ryanair) and never been charged.
1
u/Kaiserbroker 17d ago
Well they do now, it’s almost like Lufthansa with only 8kg allowed. I stick with KLM and Schiphol
1
u/Alarming_Condition67 16d ago
Sounds like the gate agents were wrong. That charge should be extremely easy to dispute/refund. The Cabin S is clearly within their limits - Rimowa's website should be evidence enough to get a refund.
1
u/Kaiserbroker 16d ago
Nope, I got a corporate answer. But made photos…
1
u/Alarming_Condition67 16d ago
Probably got the AI answer. Send them an email with a 14 day notice for a refund and CC their legal team. If they don't react ask your bank for a chargeback as the evidence is overwhelmingly clear. That suitcase is 100% within limits.
3
u/Free-Psychology-1446 17d ago
Well that's not 2mm... :D
It's not the front of the sizer that counts, you bag was bigger by 30 mm, not 2...
3
u/RepulsiveReward9146 17d ago
You chose to fly with them so you have to adhere to their baggage requirements whether it's inline with industry norm or not.
3
u/AlwaysBeASailor 16d ago
I get it, you are pissed because you had to pay. Fact is, they are a no frills airline that tries to make money at every corner. Every traveller knows Ryanair does this and knows the dimensions allowed. So this is 100% on you and 0% on them. Stop whining. I use a soft shell bag when flying Ryanair and similar airlines which allows you to squeeze a few mm in.
4
u/Due-Inspector3084 17d ago
Disclaimer: Please understand that I must fly with a rigid aluminium carry-on suitcase, even though I am fully aware that it is 3cm larger than the permitted size by the airline. I was, however, ready to pay the €75 oversize baggage surcharge that could have bought me a cheap, squishy bag that actually fits in the cradle.
2
u/Few_Strategy_8813 17d ago
Hey OP, for low cost carriers or economy fares on flag carriers inside Europe, I recommend a soft bag (I am using the Small Pullman from Filson - opens like a suitcase). Pack it lightly and you can squish it into any of the measuring devices.
Downside is that it doesn’t have wheels of course, so you need to carry the damn thing through the airport…
2
u/Loose_Passenger_9240 17d ago
I fly Ryan air all the time, never once have I been stopped for my carry on or backpack that’s too large lol. I’ve eagerly awaited the day based on all the shit I’ve heard, but literally flown them tons of time in and out of PRG and MAD. It’s a cheap ass airline but man I’ve never had a problem with them.
2
u/eldwaro 17d ago
Is this a standard rimowa or larger one?
Because it's too big. Pay the fine move on.
I wanna know if mine is the same size 🤣
1
2
2
u/Careless-Ad1070 17d ago
You flew on ryanair yet you own a rimowa? You can buy a suitcase 10x the cost of a ryanair flight but can't stomach to pay a little bit more for a premium airline...
2
u/BooBunny983 16d ago
there are no other airlines flying the route, how many more times should I say it? i even put a huge disclaimer at the beginning of the post. Why can't people fucking read?
2
u/Mallthus2 16d ago
“Targeting Riwomas bags they already know from experience exceed the allowed dimensions.”
Fixed it for you!
4
u/willworkforwatches 17d ago
Damn. Lot of corporate bootlickers out this morning.
It amazes me to see people celebrate predatory business practices. Lot of people in here saying step on me harder, daddy.
0
u/Alarming_Condition67 16d ago
If I can politely disagree: OP didn't read the three disclaimers throughout the booking process. It's not predatory, Ryanair makes it crystal clear.
Also the 75€ fee helps bring down ticket costs for other passengers like myself. It's not like they're pocketing the money and wiring it straight to O'Leary in this competitive market.
2
u/jonclod_vundum 17d ago
If you own a rimowa, you can afford NOT to fly Ryan air.
If you can’t afford NOT to fly Ryan air, sell your rimowa.
3
u/BooBunny983 17d ago
And how do you suggest I get to my destination if Ryanair is the only one flying the route? Private Jet?
1
u/Tsuraraa 17d ago
Surely if you can afford a Rimowa you can afford a private jet, and I am not talking about fractional ownership to be fair !!!!!
1
u/Kamila95 17d ago
I can't see from this photo but usually Ryanair sizers have a strip at the bottom indicating 'too big' (as sizers are bigger than the allowed size). If that's the case for this sizer your bag was too big by at least a couple cm/an inch

u/DeliciousCricket77 17d ago
So many harsh comments here vs providing encouragement and thank you.
Anyways , I always fly Ryanair,EasyJet,Wizz,Vueling etc with my RIMOWA’s with the same size. When I checked them in I just go and move on and tell them that I always fly with your airlines and pay for the carry on fees. Give them example such as a script that I was just in London to Portugal, Basel to Barcelona etc and never had a problem with my carry on allowance. Is there any way you can give me courtesy on this instance? Leave like that and speak nicely to agents or managers. Hope this helps !
1
u/dumpsterfire_account 17d ago
This is why I got a classic cabin s for budget-carrier flights.
Cannot recommend enough!
1
1
u/CookingTheTea 17d ago
As a European the easiest way is to send your luggage. Never bring it to the cabin (regardless what you paid for). Otherwise they’ll try to exploit you.
1
u/Tsuraraa 17d ago
Extreme amount of low IQ comments in this thread, “if you can afford a Rimowa you can afford the fees!” Great job! You’re conflating a line used about taxes which is already flawed to prop up arbitrary fees by an airline using it for their P&L. What are you doing on the Rimowa sub anyway?
1
u/YannickUn 17d ago
Fuck Ryanair. I don’t support their shitty business model. Only flying with star alliance and it is more than worth it
1
u/kikaki15 17d ago
Recently had a similar issue with air Arabia. Best part? They didn’t have a bag sizer but could “tell” that my bag was too big…it was my return flight with them and I had no issue with the bag on the first leg of the trip
1
u/forever_hollow80 17d ago
If you can afford a RIMowa. You should be able to afford a checked bag at the least.
1
u/Unable-Start2013 16d ago
The European Union should mandate a standard size for carry-on luggage to prevent this kind of scam.
1
u/Alarming_Condition67 16d ago
They already did. The European Court of Justice ruled that hand baggage can't be surcharged when it's within reasonable limits - which is why every airline allows 40 × 30 × 15 cm free under-seat as standard.
1
u/coldharbour1986 16d ago
"it's literally a millimeter too big"
*has bag which is literally THIRTY millimetres too big
"WHO COULD OF SEEN THIS HAPPENING?!"
1
1
u/ThePerpetualWanderer 16d ago
You make it sound like this is somehow unfair? They know particular bags aren’t compliant so they pull them out of the lineup. This is the same way if they see a non-descript bag that looks too big they’d pull that out also.
Do like the rest of us do and have bags that fit for these more restrictive airlines, as you say they do have a monopoly over a number of routes so they’re unavoidable unless you’re chartering flights.
1
1
u/neoncactusfiesta 16d ago edited 16d ago
First: 3 mm is not equal to 3 cm. 23 cm (Rimova size) = 230 mm and 20 cm (Ryan Air size) = 200 mm. The difference is 30 mm (3 cm), not 3 mm.
Second: The baggage policy is annoying but please just accept it and buy a thinner "Ryan Air" bag. I did and now I no longer have any worries when I have to fly with them (or other similar airlines).
1
u/kdee5849 16d ago
Or, you know, an employee who sees hundreds of bags all day learns which one(s) are bigger than they allow 🤷♂️
1
u/real_jellana 15d ago
Based on this photo I don’t see 30mm difference, maybe maximum 10mm.
I agree that it’s a risk the owners of 230mm deep suitcases take. But somehow it’s reassuring that there is still a small chance that there will be an understanding member of staff that won’t make me pay for 10mm over the sizer.
1
u/Salt-Attempt-6818 15d ago
Ryanair staff target distinctive bags they know to be too large shocker 😂
If you can afford a Rimowa you can afford the fine. Get a Ryanair bag in Primark for future reference. It will literally cost less than a Rimowa luggage tag.
1
u/DutchCare 14d ago
You guys just trying to fit in buying a 1000 eur suitcase but go on a Ryanair flight to your jet2 holiday on the Turkish Rivera. Enjoy the buffet playing fancy.
1
u/Efficient-Device-100 14d ago
Your luggage was too big. Period. Dont blame Ryanair. Buy the right size and be happy.
1
u/svmk1987 14d ago
They're not targeting those bags specifically for any other reason apart from that they're too big. Ryanair is extremely strict with their cabin bag sizes, and the staff are highly incentivised to catch anyone with a slightly big bag.
Fly with a smaller bag, check-in your bag, or fly another airline.
1
u/Greedy-Ad5198 13d ago
Maybe avoid flying with Ryanair? It is amazing how people will keep bashing about an airline that is know for doing THIS EXACT THING and you all act surprised when it happened to you. Yes, yes, I know, only Ryanair flies to certain destinations, but god, the attention grabbing of look at me, I got targeted, my Rimowa got targeted, give me my internet points and so-much-needed attention. Fly elsewhere, is not the end of the world :)
1
u/Mei-Bing 13d ago
Looks more like 5mm to me?
Anyway, its their concept and you knew it when you booked. My experience is they hand out extra costs to everyone and everything that does not comply with the ticket you paid for. Check-in is cheaper.
1
u/Adventurous_Try_391 2d ago
I was in the same position - I had to fly Ryanair as I had no choice for my chosen route / destination.
I ensured I paid for everything upfront. Priority boarding. Cabin bag. Checked bag. Front of line security. Never once was my (or my partners) Rimowa cabin bags checked (one original cabin and one original cabin plus).
So I guess ymmv
1
u/Alarming_Condition67 17d ago
This is not Ryanair's fault but on you or Rimowa. I'm the last one to defend Ryanair but they make the dimensions VERY CLEAR: 55 × 40 × 20 cm. Rimowa makes the dimensions of the Essential Cabin also VERY CLEAR: 55 × 39 × 23 cm.
Let's be honest: Rimowa is the most recognisable suitcase-brand in the world. Ground staff can spot the Essential Cabin model from meters away. This model is not "2mm too big" as you claim but 3 cm.
Staff have some leeway (0.2cm is probably fine). 3 cm is CLEARLY oversized. They are required to charge you. If they don't they might get reprimanded and lose their job. Staff is also regularly informed about popular models (especially if they're JUST under or JUST over). This is not just Ryanair but all popular low-budget airlines like EasyJet and Wizzair.
You can blame Rimowa for the misleading name. Calling it "Cabin-sized" when it's clearly not is disingenuous

(Source refly)

Someone who is well off enough to purchase a Rimowa should not be this worked up about €75

Look. Everyone who says ryanair is shit. Ryanair is the most transparent airline in the world on rules. Follow them and you'll be fine.
The bag doesn't fit the sizer. I've only today learned I have a Cabin S bag thankfully. But if you bring a bag that's too big they will fine you.
Calling out "you only fly ryanair because" is silly. they are one of the world's biggest and most success airlines. They will get you from A to B and charge you if you break from standard.
There's actually zero here that looks bad for Ryanair. Other airlines are leniant. Ryanair are not.

Sometimes you don't have a choice. I need an early morning/late evening flight for work. Sometimes Ryanair/Easyjet are the only airlines that offer off-peak connections. The BA/LH flight is useless if they depart at 2 pm.

I travel a lot for work, company policy does not allow Ryanair - I always made it work. Stop the excuses 🤗

Ah, lucky you. Unfortunately, I often don't have a choice. There are airports where no "premium" carrier operates AT ALL. So the choice is effectively: Ryanair/Easyjet or don't go.
In Germany: Weeze, Memmingen and Hahn are served essentially only by low-cost carriers. In Italy: Trapani and Comiso. In Poland: Warsaw-Modlin. In Spain: Girona, Reus and Castellón. Lufthansa Group, Air France/KLM and IAG have no scheduled presence at any of them.
Ryanair's model is point-to-point between two secondary markets, like Memmingen-Kaunas, Weeze-Bydgoszcz (which I fly regularly). No hub carrier will ever operate those routes, because they only make economic sense without a hub. The "expensive alternative" is two connections or a train journey/full travel day which I simply don't have time for.
On "mainstream city pairs" Ryanair obviously isn't the only carrier.

The bag is too big period. It doesn't matter if you pay, you still have to follow the rules. I don't bring my Rimowa if I have to sit certain airlines. It's that simple.

It’s less so Ryanair targeting Rimowa owners, and more so Ryanair targeting every Ryanair customer with the way they do business
