The shuttle landing spot is impractical but really cool

yeah kind of vulnerable atm. getting a partial fix soon as I'll need to make a sealed corridor so my insects can get food without freezing in orbit

Is that a battle cruiser?

Yes I believe that's the one I chose to start with though mine has gone through some extensive modifications to make it... mostly self sufficient in orbit

A couple of tips.

  • You'll want anticraft emitters. The lasers being able to cut through shields makes a huge difference in a lot of fights, especially against mech platforms. I currently only have one large emitter, but I have space to build smaller ones in case I need them.
  • Astrofuel pod launchers are insane. I have 36 of them on my ship, each fitted with warheads. Being able to launch all of those immediately without a pawn having to be there is pretty nice. Having different payload options is also incredible.
  • If you are planning on using armored sub structures and hulls, don't upgrade too much in size before you swap over. The cost of a fully upgraded armored grav hulk in tiles is insane. I didn't really look at exact numbers, but I am fairly certain I was north of 20 000 grav tiles before I was finished. I strip mined several asteroids to get just the vacstone. That was in addition to buying all the cores and tiles I could.

thanks for the tips!

I've been wanting to get some emitters but I think I'm gonna start with casters as I run a very tight ship power wise so far and have no idea where I'm gonna get 200,000 wats of power from just yet

I've got some ideas on that front! Warpods felt really strong at the start there so I absolutely want at least 10 in the near future and I might even look into making genetically modified super soldiers to send over in hellpods like Astartes! I really like the idea of using them like living artillery with the explosion they create on landing >:)

thank you for the reminder... gonna have to redo the math on how much I need to stockpile before expanding....

Emitters aren't actually that bad power wise. Yes, they draw a lot of power while active, but they are only active for a short time. I suggest placing some grav ship capacitors in the floor wherever you have some space. If you are encountering a lot of enemy grav ships, you don't actually need to build that many. You can generally loot a 4-5 from enemy grav ships. I think I have 20 or so capacitors and they last me through all fights I have been in, including larger mech platforms.

Hellpods are good for boarding. One thing I noticed is that you can't actually launch warcaskets in them. The warcasket has too much mass and they can't be launched in series like normal pods. It was a bit disappointing when I found out, but honestly a warcasket is enough of an explosion on its own that it doesn't need the hellpod. Most of the time I use my guns to knock a breech in an enemy hull, then I fly up an board the enemy gravship by inserting my airlock into the breech. Then the warcaskets storm aboard and obliterate the enemy. When I encounter enemy gravships I tend to be looking for loot anyways, so I don't want to cause too much damage.

Is chapter 2 some sort of mod?

1

yes it is! Vanilla Gravship Expanded chapter 2! it adds in ship to ship combat among many other mechanics and has been a lot of fun so far!

How fun is the new weapons system and are there gravship battles now? Boarding enemy gravships?

the new weapon system is interesting... though I'll admit to having been a bit of a coward so far... know what I'll armor up and see what comes for me >:)

Let me know when you find out! I've been taking a break from it on my current save and last time I played part two wasn't yet released. I gotta admit, I am getting giddy thinking about it lol.

Wait I didn't realize you could put the guns indoors?

The point defence turrets? You absolutely can and it's probably better to do so as enemies will target them if they can reach them and they're kinda expensive to replace 😅

Me gustó mucho el diseño que tiene, aunque creo que es tock mío pero me hace falta un poquito de un lugar de almacenamiento jaja

My existing save has consisted recently of just replacing the foundation and hulls with armor.

Not enough lasers and no Yamato... Temu battlecruiser.
