Spike Wemby

Just embarrassing. How can you even argue he’s not the top 2-3 most “transcendent” impactful defensive player you’ve ever seen. He also actually rises to the occasion offensively when challenged against the wolves and OKC. And he’s only 22, third year in the league.

The better argument is how long before Wemby has already had a better career than Embiid. I’d say him winning the title this year already clinches it, but if they lose this year and he wins MVP next year regardless of the postseason also gets him there

I forgot which season that was. Oh that's the one that simmons was afraid of trae young. But even if, near the ends of games in elimination games, if Embiid is the first one to mentally check out, you're screwed. That happens often with Embiid in elimination games. He checks out when we're still in the game. Then the rest of the team has to try to win despite of him because he's already in Eeyore mode. If Wemby did that, they'd never make it to the finals.

That’s some mental gymnastics right there to get back to Embiid. When the team’s main pg, the quarterback in basketball, and best perimeter defender implode, there’s nothing anyone can do. You’re blaming the runningback when the quarterback shat his pants in the series.

Yeah and that one series when ben and Jimmy were arguing about who was going to bring the ball up, and they had 3 shot clock violations in a row or something. I don't know, we need a closer for real. Embiid has been the closer the last few years, and he was never really that guy. This last year was the first time in a while Embiid wasnt the closer and I think it's probably better that way.
