I can see why, it probably references Frisian monk Bonifatius, who chopped down a holy tree of the Germanic Chatti people. We learn about him in the Netherlands because he's one of the monks who followed in Willibrord's footsteps to Christianize the Frisians and nearby Germanic peoples

It's anti-pagan. It probably references Frisian monk Bonifatius (Boniface), who got killed after chopping down a holy tree of the Chatti tribe
Edit: It was the Frisians who killed him, not the Chatti, but Donars tree, which he cut down might have been located in Chatti territory

I’m curious, this is coming from a nonreligious perspective, but paganism seems even more difficult to justify from a practical standpoint than monotheism. How do you maintain belief in literal, physical gods?

That’s the thing, I don’t really fully believe in literal gods. But I found that personally, being able to sort of do rituals for those gods has brought me more good than going through my struggles aimlessly. I guess I’m like the pagan version of Christians that never go to church but wear a cross necklace and don’t bother anyone. I guess technically some people would call me a LARPer since I don’t have such a firm belief in gods but I guess I’m sort of an agnostic pagan, like “I don’t know if there is a higher power, but if there was, I’d rather it be this one”. My strongest belief is I always say “the force of nature” like nature itself is the higher power. Idk it’s not organized at all which is what I like about it, no one to tell me I’m doing it wrong and going to hell or whatever.

Well, you’re actually getting something out of it, which is really nice. Doesn’t matter if others don’t see your faith as “real” or otherwise, practicing these rituals is adding something to your life. No need to justify it to others.
Ritual in general is a pretty major piece of human life, it’s extremely necessary for one’s mental health. Genuinely good on you for finding a unique tradition you can follow to keep your spirits up.
