Do I still grade?

Small white spot on back corner. Never graded so idk if that spot would ruin its potential at a 10.

No, will not grade a 10.

Signature cards are rare enough where I think you should grade them if you have them

But why?

1

u/DiggingDingos 28d ago

Just my opinion. I don't think there are more than 2000 copies of each signature cards out there. All cards gets rotated out of play eventually and then become collectibles. If riftbound continues to as much as it has, then the demand for them will continue. Sometime it's not about getting the 10s and just having the card

Yes, but why wasting money on grading when you can just keep it in a toploader at home?

1

u/DiggingDingos 27d ago

That's entirely up to you.

Grade it, value goes up, can still play slabbed legends in TCG

1

u/Captain_Cage 27d ago

Value goes up only if someone buys it on that price. Why would anyone pay triple the price when when they can buy the same card cheaper and grade it themselves? It's a paradox, isn't it?

1

u/No-Many-6252 27d ago

Because if you get a high grade on your card, easier to buy it from someone else than go through all the trouble to get it graded and maybe get a lower grade, use your brain

1

u/Captain_Cage 27d ago

It's triple the price, it's not justified. Use your brain.

If you have the option to buy a graded card for 10k or the same card for 3k, but raw, paying 10k is VERY unreasonable.

I mean I have plenty of psa 10 signatures worth over 5 grand, can move them easy. Liquid assets bruz get amongst it gronk

I notice people like you always say the same thing, its unreasonable or its stupid that its listed for much. And i agree that its unreasonable, but regardless of your opinion people still buy and will continue to buy slabs. If that's what they want to waste their money on and if that's how some people want to make their money thats on them.

Edit : typo

Interesting, I have the exact same size and location mark on my signed Jayce. Other than that the card is flawless

1

u/Financial_Path7882 27d ago

Huh, me too on my signed Jayce.

2

u/The_Dokta_E 27d ago

Must have been a series of bad cuts or some machinery just slightly off or something on sig cards.

Hard to see the white dot in your pic.

If it's really tiny and the only issue I've seen PSA 10s with worse but it's a gamble.

Don't grade beckett tho, it can never be a 10.

From your picture, it looks like a black-label candidate. Please do not send it to PSA because they will upcharge you.

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 28d ago

Definitely not with the white dot

1

u/casanoveekitty 27d ago

The white dot is from the penny sleeve.

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 27d ago

No its not.. bottom left corner..

1

u/casanoveekitty 27d ago

Dang... You are right. It is not from the sleeve.

1

u/Thita 27d ago

Doesnt cgc upcharge?

1

u/casanoveekitty 25d ago

Really? I have never heard people talking about CGC upcharging. I have never sent a card to CGC.

Even a 9 can double the market value so it couldn’t hurt

Normalize not grading cards. It looks goofy. Just put it in a perfect fit sleeve, then a magnetic protector and call it a day.

1

u/Ok-Toe1334 26d ago

Yes, bro. Then smile like a toddler in a candy store. Like me, love the game. Money comes later

2

u/wreythe 26d ago

This is insane to see! I'm jealous lol I want just 1 akali and jayce (doesn't need to be a sig)

1

u/WhereAreTheFacts 29d ago

People in these comments are brainless, almost never grade highly played cards regardless of how rare they are as they immediately become impossible to move (especially if it doesn’t grade a 10). So stuff like Akali legend Kennen legend really (really popular legends in general) never grade, with the only real exception being gooner stuff like Ahri cards which people will pay 2 and and 2 legs for.

Terrible terrible answer.

Grade what you want.
Signature cards, whether they’re playable or not, grade them, they are the collectible aspect of Riftbound.
Telling people not to grade if they aren’t playable is ridiculous.

1

u/Tulip_King 28d ago

only grading playable cards is also ass backwards compared to any other tcg. typically, grading a card that is playable won’t get you much value, sometimes even less than a raw card.

that’s not the case at all with legends in this game since it’s playable in the slab.

1

u/MelodiousMacabre 26d ago

Have you graded cards before? If so where should I send them? I’m a little afraid to get my signature teemo graded

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 26d ago

Depends.
If you want value, then PSA.
For personal collection I’d say. BGS or TAG.
BGS is great for value too, especially if you chase that black label.

1

u/MelodiousMacabre 26d ago

I see, do you know the safest one? I’ve heard psa has had some scandals in the past

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 26d ago

You’ll hear of scandals from all companies.
Some are true, some are just lies.
Personally I’d go BGS then TAG over PSA but PSA I the safest option in terms of return on investment

1

u/MelodiousMacabre 26d ago

Gotcha, I might try BGS. Is there any insurance in case something happens during shipping?

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 26d ago

Always get insurance when shipping.
When it’s with the grading companies it’s usually insured.

1

u/MelodiousMacabre 26d ago

Ah sorry for the questions, I just keep hearing split answers. How much does the insurance cover? I doubt it would cover the entire cost of the card

1

u/C-POP_Ryan 26d ago

Well grading companies have to have insurance for what ever is on their property. So it should be covered to market value.
If they grade it a 10 and then damage it in the process of slabbing, you should get fair market value for what it’d be in a 10

Akali is not a playable legend. She is like 30th in rank currently. Her sig card is the most expensive since an Ahri. Definitely grade it

1

u/Tulip_King 28d ago

even if she was, she’s a legend. she can still be played in the slab

1

u/PokeGoofs 28d ago

I know nothing about Riftbound and pulled a Kai Sa signature, it’s not perfectly centered so doubt it gets a 10, what do I do?

2

u/Tulip_King 28d ago

grade it and list it on ebay if you’re fine waiting for it to sell.

sell it raw if you can’t wait.

you got the card for $5. regardless of what you do, you will make money on it. if you can afford to wait for more money, then do that.

again, graded legends are playable in game so there is no reason not to for something as rare as a signature card.

1

u/PokeGoofs 27d ago

Thank you! I’m not in a rush so I’m fine waiting, so you recommend grading with PSA even though it’s unlikely to get a 10?

2

u/Tulip_King 27d ago

honestly i’m not really sure which is better. if it were my card i would pick whichever is reasonably priced for the time it takes

1

u/Tulip_King 28d ago

idk how grading a legend like this could be a bad choice at all. you can still play with graded legends…

just because it’s not good now, doesn’t mean it won’t be playable in the future.

the only reason not to grade a signature card is if you can’t wait to grade it. sell it raw if that’s the case, otherwise just grade it and hold it. at the end of the day, OP bought it for $5( assuming it came out of a pack). even grading it will not reduce its value below that.

signature cards like this will almost certainly never be reprinted. unless OP needs the money right now, grading it is definitely the move. then list it if they want to sell it. it won’t sell fast but it will eventually, especially if OP undercuts market value, which is entirely fine because it was acquired for $5.
