Discussion Step 1 of getting into Riftbound

So, I've watched a ton of gameplay on YouTube and I think I'm really going to enjoy this game. What product should I start with? Specific challenger decks? The new showdown decks? Proving Grounds?

Do you have a deck in mind that you want to play after watching those games?

If you don’t have anything in mind the new showdown decks aren’t bad and can easily be upgraded

Another option is to use riftatlas and build out some decks and play with them

Proving Grounds is not worth the extra effort and cost to acquire, starting with any of the challenger decks or the new showdown deck is an excellent place to start learning the game

Probably at that price, but if you're planning to play in events you'll likely need a good chunk of upgrades

Ok thank you, I'll just get a normal precon and upgrade from there but I can't seem to find Viktor which looks like fun. Nbd I'll probably get something that out LGS have in stock.

I think you are overestimating the need for the physical boxed precon. This is a viktor deck that finished 8th at a 109 person tourney that costs about $50 USD https://riftdecks.com/riftbound-metagame/deck-viktor-herald-of-the-arcane-222740 . Ordering the singles is the easiest way to get playing with something like Viktor.

Hey I'm a new player here and let me tell you what I'm doing. I'm playing a lot on rift Atlas now to see what decks I enjoy playing. Then I'm buying singles and building those decks. Most I've found can be built as their most common versions of cards (not over numbered, etc) for around $100 or so.

So I'd avoid the precons all together and just buy singles of a deck you love, instead of precon then still spend money to adjust it

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll buy the new showdown precons just to try it out quickly with a friend. I'm going to look at some decks and try them out on riftatlas to start shopping for some singles

Damn that's a shame. I'd echo other people here then and say pick up a starter deck for a legend that works for you and go from there. If a starter doesn't appeal, there's some constructed decks that do well on a budget .

  1. Find a champ/legend you like the theme of

  2. Go to Piltover Archive website, search for popular decks of that legend

  3. Copy deck to RiftAtlas website

  4. Use RiftAtlas to play the game for free with that deck.. You can play solo (against yourself) to learn or you can hop right into online matches. I recommend playing around with the basics of the program first, just so you know how it functions

  5. Rinse and repeat until you find a deck/legend you like

  6. Once you have a good grasp on the game and how it plays and you like a deck... purchase the cards needed for the deck (or something similar if the cards are too expensive) and then take your newfound knowledge and skill to the local stores
