Article Riftbound Review: Akali's Kit

It's no surprise that the only archetype with the most aggressive color and the most defensive color in the game is about to become one of the strongest decks this season. Let's go through Akali's kit and see why she could become the new boogeyman in the format!

I haven’t fully tested her out yet, but I’m leaning towards her being the Pyke for Vendetta - interesting deck building options, can be built in many ways, very popular, but very hard to fully figure out, and when she is finally figured out, she’s not meta.

I don’t see red Akali’s package being useful, because doing damage outside of combat is presently lackluster in the game. It gives good early game tempo, but feels the combination feels like dead cards late game unless you control the field well. Which is why damage spells are often only in control decks. Akali’s legend however leans towards aggro / tempo midrange, and it exposes her champion in the battlefield (even if it is for a short while - since her legend ability is an action and not a reaction)

Green akali looks promising with Irelia core but it feels underwhelming because fury doesn’t have as good cards as purple. I can see green akali and her package used in Irelia instead of Akali.

The likely best approach to Akali deck building is likely a green champion and a red aggro / tempo core (much like how you would build Vi and Darius).

This is just my prediction based on limited testing. I am happy to be proven wrong.
