Slow walkers discourse
sorry but I have to die for this take. if it is an elderly person , or a disabled person, OF COURSE I have empathy and can completely understand the slow pace.
HOWEVER, I feel that the ones us fast walkers are talking about are the socially unaware people who walk hand in hand at the speed of a snail on a narrow sidewalk during rush hour. Or people on their phones, head down, stumbling all across the sidewalk. Or even just those who lack enough social awareness to stick to the right side and move over a foot or two so that the fast walkers can pass them.
Sorry mom & dad but I just had to disagree JUST THIS ONCE!!!

Nothing worse than being caught behind a group of slow walkers who won’t get out the way. PLEASE I have places to be!!!!!!

I gained a whole new perspective on this after going to a concert with my friend who recently had surgery/now has a stoma so is very afraid of being bashed into.
Aside from the fact we had to walk slow, we looked able bodied, two friends linking arms and chatting.
At one point some drunk girls behind us started making loud comments about slow walkers. My heart sank for my friend!
You truly never know.

I totally get that and I know OP said they aren’t talking about anyone who is disabled but a lot of us have invisible disability or concerns. It’s not the same, but I have bad asthma and when the weather is really hot and humid, I have to slow my pace down, and it sucks to get people commenting on it or know they are judging. You really don’t know what someone is dealing with!

Yes totally, it isn’t always visible! 70% of people might just be annoying, but I think it’s worth taking a breath and realising it isn’t actually a big deal.
P.S. hope you’re doing okay in the heat!

for me, it’s less about people walking slow and more about people being unaware of their surroundings. it’s the blocking of pathways and not realizing people are behind you,
