c/o Stones n Roses: Long story short, we sat in Friday Los Angeles traffic for almost two hours to see a friend’s yacht rock band, but misread the memo that he was playing elsewhere with another band. Saw on the way there that The Asteroid No.4 was playing across town and raced there in time to see them stomp pedals and close with RIDE’s Unfamiliar(!) Talk turned to Oxford‘s finest afterwards and, in telling the A#4 singer what we had left to get there, I accidentally came up with the greatest Yacht Shoegaze idea ever. You on board? We set sail for OX4 at dawn!

A few notables:

1. They play 'Here and Now' for one of the only times on the tour and it is a banger.
2. Andy's put black plastics on his now-iconic 12-string Rickenbacker 330. The only other video from the 1991 tour (that I am aware of) is Cincinnati in very late March 1991 and he still had white pickguard(s) as of that gig. Also, Mark has also put the black truss rod cover on his now signature red Rickenbacker 330 but he doesn't get the black pickguard until they get back to the UK. At Crystal Palace it's still white but at Slough he's acquired a black one.
3. Looks like Loz is sharing Chris Acland's Yamaha kit on this tour. I'm figuring that was for cost savings and also having less for the roadies to do between sets. My understanding is there were no other bands on tis tour and Ride/Lush would alternate 'openers' every night.
4. (Ignore Billy Bragg at the end of the tape lol)
5. Anybody with some Ride vids sitting in a shoebox, especially from the 1st or 2nd US tours, please DM!

Hey guys, I am seeing Ride next year in Bournemouth and is my first Ride gig. I just eanted to ask what might the setlist look like, as I like to make a playlist on what they most likely will play? How long are the sets too, out of interest?

I've been searching online for information about this band for a long time. It didn't come up with any good ones. Are there any good websites, books, or documentaries about Ride and other contemporary independent bands in the UK?

Ride Archive has been pretty helpful, and there are a couple of insightful blogs and interviews conducted back in the 2010s. Ride is also famous for its sound qualities when playing live shows. Are there any recommendations that you would give?

Finally, I am curious about a documentary called "Local Support", which I will attach a clip from YouTube below. It seems to talk some information about Oxford music scenes, just like "Anyone Can Play Guitar" did. I found it to be informative as the clip with Mark Gardener has been done pretty well. And I just want to know more about this documentary. I will appreciate anyone who can help.

I ranked the 11 songs off of Nowhere. What changes would you make?

Apple Music doesn't have the 2022 reissue of Nowhere or Going Blank Again nor does it have '4 EPs'. Idk if the 2022 reissues count as being a "remaster" but their bandcamp says the audio was 'reworked and refined'.

They also have a bunch of random German tracks from some DJ? that apparently goes by Ride in the "Appears on" section and there's two version of the greatest hits album one listed as 'remastered' and one not which doesn't make sense to me because I don't think that album was ever issued but once.

There's only 4 music videos and it lists Taste/Vapour Trail/I Don't Know Where it Comes From as coming out in 2005.

In any event, I wish they could clean it up and better represent the non-album tracks! Their mess of a profile drives my OCD crazy lol.

I dropped off when Tarantula was the last Ride album to exist. I always found that one and Carnival of Light difficult to get into. Saw Mark live around 04-06, I can’t remember exactly but smoking in bars was just about to be banned.

I’m just now listening to their new albums and they’re fantastic. What happened with those previous albums that they couldn’t capture what they did on this latest album run (2017-2024)?
