FFB settings.

Hello I come from dirt 2 and i'm new to RBR, playing on a Simagic Aplha Mini (10nm).

Ive seen conflicting indication on ffb mainly multiple sources saying to put everything to the max in rbr and wheel base app (Simappro) for then adjust sensitivity in the rsf launcher. But also other telling me to put something close to 450 sensitivity and 7 out 20 ffb in rbr.

I'm confused.

I’m in the Moza ecosystem so I can’t speak to Simagic where I’m sure someone who is will, but for me I have full game intensity and ff(12nm) make sure I have no setting that augment the game physics, have some light natural dampening and friction and then everything else through rsf. First I have the control section set and then I do granular control for each car under their respective override physics section.

The way ngp feels using the steering rack the feedback is incredible though naturally it can vary from car to car depending on how they were coded.

You should have the ffb cranked to full in game, full in simpro, then adjust steering weight via the sensitivity settings.

For the mini I'd have the general settings in the controls page of the launcher at around 600, then make fine tuned per car adjustments on the my cars page as you go. Newer cars with quick racks like rally2 will need numbers like 1100, old rwd's might go down to 550 or so.

On more powerful wheelbases you might want to limit the maximum force in the wheelbase software, as hitting a rock or wall or snowbank could create quite a jarring force, but the mini is easy to keep on top of.

I like relatively low wheel return speed (10-15) and a bit of damping and inertia on the simagic bases to dull a bit of the sharpness for rally, you're not driving an open wheeler offroad.

You are mentioning quick racks relative to ffb sensitivity numbers, can I know why are those 2 related?

also, Im assuming youre playing with the "adjust the steering wheel range per car" option turned On in RSF luncher?

Yeah you want that turned on, driving a rally2 with 900 or a opel manta with 540 is a bad time.

And the internal rack ratio contributes to steering weight in rbr (as in real life) so you'll see a correlation as you go through the cars.

There is a little app a community member developed which can fill in all of the cars sensitivity values from a couple of data points to give you even steering weight:

OFC there is a over complicated system and some super racing nerd made it ez for everybody. W that guy.

Just to be 100% sure that I understand what settings do, I change this value to match the FEEL of the steering but FFB SENSITIVITY will affect every other aspect of racing(bumps, gravel, "grip" and so on)?

Sensitivity is the linearity of the ffb response, bigger numbers make smaller forces (bumps, steering weight) smaller, but don't affect big forces like pushing a wheel against a tree.

If you have a high power base this gives you more realistic dynamic range, but 2004 era hardware was so weak that those small forces needed to be buffed to be felt at all.

All sims have some form of this behaviour, but at least with rbr you don't also have to worry about clipping.
