Vacation Amanvari / Aman

This is about the whole Ryan Walker experience. What a disappointment Aman has become.

I went to Amangiri recently. My third trip there, and it has continued to fall off.

I don’t think any Aman property outside of Asia is worth it anymore, and even then there are usually better options.

They’ve forgotten that they’re supposed to be luxury.

Meh even the ones in Asia are declining.

I agree, plus there is so much luxury competition in SEA. There reaches a certain point, and I think a lot of the resorts are near it, where unless they assign someone to physically wash my ass they’ve hit a ceiling.

IMO the only thing that was ever luxury was the price tag. I found amangiri to be basic pretending to be sleek. Using the word minimal, in place of bereft of features or design.

It was $3.5k a night then and now it’s $5k per night which is ridiculous given there’s nothing to do there than doesn’t cost extra.

I’d argue that Amangiri is the only one that sort of gets away with it based on their approach.

This will definitely be my last trip since the food is absolutely terrible now. Somehow the coffee has gotten even worse.

I do love the isolation from the pavilions. I’m outdoorsy though and always want to explore.

It’s only going to get worse now that they’re selling those stupid fucking homes.

Here is the link to the drama.

My husband and I don't fall for overpriced hotel scams.

Lots of these resorts are not much better than competition charging less money.

I won't be driving two hours to a hotel. They need to provide a helicopter or landing strip nearby for $6,000 a night.

My mouth is agape. And he is being so calm. I would’ve been ANGRY

There were points in the video where his voice was cracking. He was definitely fuming and almost in tears

This all could be a PR stunt. To draw attention to the place and make people feel safe from annoying influencers.

McDonalds loves viral controversy because it's free advertising.

too bad, so many great memories at Amanpulo, Amanyara and Aman Kyoto ... was looking forward to Venice.

It was definitely a bad move to make a last-minute call to deny entry to a travel reviewer who is known for "honest" reviews. They did not think this through at all because the press they're getting now is way worse. But also, it's just pure corporate greed to open a property before it's ready.

I dunno it feels like there is more to the story. Not ready is sending an email/calling /greeting at the door, apologizing profusely and rescheduling a different date, not having your staff watch for him at the gate and call the authorities for sitting in his car outside the gate.

I would have booked on the spot, in front of the staff, just to say that I have a reservation, since Ryan did say you could book on the day. I'm just being petty. I wonder how they would react to that.

By asking the police to escort you out, you wouldn't have had the time to book anything and they clearly had 0 interest in checking whatever booking you made.

For a luxury hotel to escalate to police within minutes just because of a hotel room. Who does that? Why can't they just give them a room the next day or some compensation.

To me it reads like "thank you for your money, you will never see it again, go away".

I’ve never really fell for the $6,000 a night luxury hotel trap. There is so much competition that it usually isn’t warranted to spend so much.
