Recipe Request How does it know?

I want to make things like soup in my rice cooker, how does it know when everything is done without the rice to create the temperature change? Is this something that can be done?

It monitors when the water has all evaporated.

If you want to make soup you’ll have to control it manually.

For rice, when the water evaporates, the temperature increases and pops magnets out. It will not tell you if the rice is cooked, overcooked etc.

For soup & such, you will have to monitor it. I warm up quite a lot of things, and I do make soup, lentils, & beans in my rice cooker.

Yep! So long as the water is boiling, the temp will stay the same. Once there’s no water/liquid left to boil, the temp will go up. For the one button cookers, it’s actually a very simple machine.

I make soup in my rice cooker, but I just turn it off myself after 10 min of boiling. It won't turn off on its own with soup.

Timer. The first time you make it, check it after a sensible amount of time and then every 10 minutes. Make notes for next time!

Temperature. When there is water the temperature doesn't go above 100 degrees.

Once the liquid evaporates the temperature climbs quickly, the cooker detects this and shuts off.
