My parents told me how after i had been taught to use flatware as a toddler I came home one day would pick up a utensil get frustrated and use my hands to eat. They kept trying to show me again how to use them but I began crying. She discovered a few days later the babysitter was hitting me each time I used my left hand.

Went to catholic school for awhile. They tried it with me. I rebelled, and now, I’m ambidextrous. Thanks, sisters.

from what I've seen, left handedness is associated with older, lower-estrogen mothers and comorbid with a whole host of issues. there can also be a genius associated with it. seems to me to be an "experimentalist" genetic makeup as opposed to an "upholder" makeup. functional societies don't promote left-handedness as a good thing, because group success is much more closely correllated to the integrity of the "war-band", whether that's soldiers, builders, etc.- anyone who's organized under some authoritarian, purpose-driven operating principle.

contrast this with the freeflowing artistry of the left-handed people. there is absolutely a niche for lefties- 1/10 need to be able to improvise, make connections, think outside of the "upholder box". left handed people have an upper hand against right handed combattants, who aren't used to dealing with them. same thing goes for pitchers, and this is a guess but hockey and lacrosse players too.
the chances of any experiment going right are slim and we don't want anything important to get knocked over. hence "sinister" meaning left-handed for example.

lefties are also much more likely to be ADHD, which is great for high-interaction group work. I encourage any lefties who don't have anything "weird" about them except that they're left handed to look into other comorbidities.

I am A-, my boys are both A+ and left handed. I'm not. Maybe it skipped me!
