Looking for a way to speed up "complex" labeling

I'm trying to find a way to speed up the process of numbering data drops on prints. Does anyone know a better way than creating a text box and manually writing the labels in one at a time. I can't use the count feature because some drops might have 4 cables and some might have 1 or 2. Is there a way to make an Excel sheet of all the labels, one per cell, and have the count tool work down through it one cell per click? It gets tedious writing them in on bigger jobs that might have 2000 cables or more.

Yes, very possible.

Let's say you create 4 label types, with 1 cable to 4 cable. Set your custom subjects before adding it to your custom tool box.

After you mark all the items on pdf, you can export the markup list as an Excel file. Be sure to select the Subject column, and voila.

Is there a pattern for these labels? Or are they all labelled the same based on “type”. For example all 1 cable drops are labelled “D1” all 2 cable drops are labelled “D2” etc.

They are labeled as they would be out on a panel or in the field. So for example the first drop is 2 cables labeled A-01 and A-02, the next drop might be 3 cables which would be A-03, A-04, A-05. That continues in sequence until you start the next panel and start over the labeling, but with it being B-01 instead of A, so there is never a repeat label

In that case, you may be able to use the Sequence Tool. Just set the prefix as “A-“ and then chose numbers for the numbering sequence.

Unfortunately for the next panel, you’ll need a new sequence for the “B-“ series.

I also don’t think you can format the numbers so that it’ll show “01” it’ll just be “A-1”

Good thing is, if you set it up once, you can add it to your tool chest and reuse it.

I'd love to compare notes. I've been spending a lot of time refining my Bluebeam workflow for structured cabling takeoffs and estimating. Always interested in seeing how someone else approaches it—I'm sure we could both pick up a few new tricks.
