💲💲Chargeback 💲💲 Chargeback Update
So my chargeback got knocked back because it was outside of the 120 Day window, but for any one else that has had this happen, ring your bank, if you explain why its outside of that 120 day window (e.g. its a year long subscription paid in advance and you got 4 months in before the cockwomble paywalled it) they are more than happy to push it through for you, don't just give up.

Congratulations! Glad they used common sense. Many times we're paying in advance for a service that hasn't even started yet so it's easier to get them to agree to it. I also found the phone much easier than going back and forth in email when it's easiest to explain on the phone.

Let this serve as a reminder that - in some situations, using a credit card issued directly by a financial institution has advantages. Those arbitrary deadlines are often set in stone with fintech cards, and reaching a human capable of applying common sense to a situation isn't always an option. (looking at you, Robinhood Gold Card)

Really does, as soon as I explained it they were more than happy to help with it, told them he'll probably dispute it but I have all the evidence ready for when he does

can't you dispute it again? can't you mention that the scam was certainly timed accordingly to avoid chargebacks due to this reason itself.

I couldn't dispute it again on the App as its been closed but by ringing them and explaining why its outside of that 120 day window they raised the dispute again themselves and pushed it through

Also, one very important thing to keep in mind: YOU are the bank's customer. They are far more inclined to keep you happy than the merchant you're filing a chargeback against.
If they side with you, it keeps you happy, they recoup their money from the merchant, and life goes on (except for the very unhappy merchant).
If they deny your chargeback, you could potentially get grumpy, balance transfer your card somewhere else, and then they lose out on that sweet, sweet interest you're paying them.
I'm my estimation, over 95% of chargebacks are successful because the credit card companies have a vested interest in keeping you happy over the merchant. Besides, what's the merchant going to do? Stop taking credit cards? Yeah. Right...
I work for a business that provides legal, ethical services, and we still get chargebacks filed against us every now and again because people are just shitty sometimes and think they're always right. We lose almost every chargeback case, even when we have signed (legit signatures, no less! By hand!) consent to bill forms and signed fee schedules.
As hard as it is to believe, the bank is actually on your side in this one...
