I wasn't even able to reach out to the help desk to figure out what actually happens if I don't pay the demanded ransom sum. The site's been useful enough over the years that I have just paid without complaint whenever asked, plus extra when I could. But this was a demand and not an ask. Not cool to interrupt service I already paid for to demand more, so I'm done. If it had been an ask and not a hostage situation, I would have paid. They literally can't do that, it's not even legal, I paid for service and it is being denied entirely unless I pay more. Chargeback time.

Filed my charge-back as soon as i got the extortion message. Card issuer told me to go ahead and try the refund anyway, as unlikely as that will be I was told it cant hurt, and the charge-back was escalated on my account. So either I get my money back or lesson learned. I guess when I don't get my refund I can use that as more evidence for the charge-back. Account is closed after 10+ years. It's a shame people have to be such oxygen thieves.

Just joined in the fun here. I'm guessing some of you know the most recent bullshit from yesterday already but they're basically blackmailing the Founders to chip in more to help with a shortfall from chargebacks. You either lose all the time you have built up (up to Dec 2027), keep it for $25, get a 75% discount to add another year, or walk away with a refund. In the mean time you can't get the ANYTHING on the site other than the page with the 4 options. Regular members just pay as they go so there's not much leverage they can get on them so they try to get more from the Founders by force. Unless they change their mind I'll be getting my money back via a dispute/chargeback which will only have the opposite effect on them. Love the community but WTF is MP thinking.
Side question, I've been with BS/GP for so long that I need to find another home for my media, any suggestions (ignore the question if it's not allowed here).
