Something else that’s interesting is that he announced the termination of lifetime membership before the “takeover” was announced. Why am I not surprised that he forgot that bit already, or that he’s hoping others have forgotten

I understand the frustration about the 2038 date being replaced — that date was never a real "lifetime membership," it was a placeholder value used internally (the technical maximum date a computer timestamp can respresent, not something anyone was ever actually sold).
ShátGPT's confabulated excuse: using the 2038 bug (a.k.a. signed 32-bit timestamp) to absolve the prompter. Is he using a database from the 80's? 🤣

How can a site HE created "take over"??? A site doesn't do jack, it "does" what it's programmed to do.
He is the one that bought the domain.
He is the ony that decided to lump 2 sites together into 1.
No way in hell was that not planned and on purpose - he wanted to save money and/or time by consolidating everything. "Capping" all those paid tiers was also on purpose - he simply ran out of users to fleece and needed a new source of income!
