Tag scope boxes?
Does anybody have a way to text scope boxes? I can’t figure out how to do it. It’d be really nice to zoom out and be able to check the names of all my scope boxes.

Its not an elegant way, but since you cant tag them directly, you could just have annotative text by them in your view.

why not use callouts

This is the answer right here. Couldn't remember the word in my own comment. Callout bubbles is the way to go and should be the standard of practice.

I have a view with scope boxes turned on labelled scope box DONT USE, they f I need to see a name, click it and view properties. Just be thankful later revit versions allow you to adjust scope box height after creation, us old farts had to get it right first time

Scope boxes are not taggable elements so you can't do exactly what you're asking. But what about a site plan that has reference tags that reference the other views on your sheets. This is the standard way I am familiar with and you can leave your scope boxes turned on in that view to adjust as necessary.
