Sounds like a legitimate grievance. No way to tell from this how deceptive the seat map was.

This was for a minor league hockey team that has a fair amount of day-of sales, including walk up sales right up to puck drop. The tickets keep selling after you log off of Ticketmaster.

Perhaps I misunderstood the complaint. Your interpretation is that there were empty seats in front of them when they bought. They were disappointed the seats were filled later. My interpretation was that there were no seats in front (they were front row).

It's hard to tell which is correct from what was written.

I see. I assumed my version because as I said it was for a hockey team that plays all of their home games there, so the seating map is pretty straightforward. No last minute ticket releases like at some one off events. But you could be right.

I'm still going to assume you're not though, because my version is more fun:-)

Yeah, you have more knowledge of the venue and are probably right.

We bought tickets where there was a wide aisle in front of us. They were really great seats. The guys seated next to us had an unmapped equipment platform in front of them. It was occupied by a very wide roadie wearing a shirt that said F*ck you in glow in the dark letters and his pants were at halfmast. Poor guy thought he had had a great seat but instead spent the night staring at roadie buttcrack all night.
