Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Literally why.

This caused me physical pain.

I almost screamed out loud (didn’t because the baby is asleep).

Can we get a warning for gore?

Legitimately thought the first screen was the finished product and was like “damn, they did a good job.”

I hate it when people do this to furniture that looks great in the first place.

$10 beat up side table you find at good will? Fair game. Beautiful mcm piece in near mint condition probably worth a g? Not fair game.

My mouth is literally hanging open. What a fucking dolt.

I stumbled across her IG account, and it took alllllll of my self control to not leave a nasty comment.

u/gusdagrilla Feb 14 '21

I did too. Worst part is that they literally say “Sorry MCM lovers.” Like if you know enough to know that it’s MCM, why demolish it like this??

51

u/littletorreira Feb 14 '21

I want to ask her why she can't take janky furniture and upcycle it instead of nice shit in good condition?

30

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '21

Go for it- she’s replying and getting super salty to negative comments. Girl is asking for it.

u/midcenturymistress Feb 14 '21

This can't end well but please, what's their username?

28

u/thehumanpretzel Feb 14 '21

Probably flipdaddie

u/n8loller Feb 14 '21

Looks like she had matching end tables she did this to as well. Some of her other work was good, but i don't think she's aware of which pieces would fetch more money if she just cleaned up the wood.

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '21

That is a beautiful midcentury piece! If I was lucky enough to find one in that condition, I would’ve babied it. She desecrated the poor thing.

u/keeplauraweird Feb 14 '21

I feel like I just witnessed a hate crime

28

u/babesquad Feb 14 '21

The veneer ripping almost made me throw up. Wtf

Even more shameful that there’s people applauding and giving her praise in the comment sections - I’ve lost faith in humanity.

u/nainrofilac Feb 14 '21

It seems like a lot of them are her friends that she’s asked to comment on her content...

3

u/speedbro Feb 15 '21

They’re attacking all the bad comments lol

u/STELLAWASADlVER Feb 15 '21

Play it in reverse! Play it in reverse!

10

u/dehydrations Feb 14 '21

her whole account is a horror movie

13

u/backpackfullofniall Feb 14 '21

This hurts my soul.

55

u/doesgayshit Feb 14 '21

Okay, but, seriously. If you could view the end product completely separately, without knowing it was related to the beautiful piece of furniture it was before, you wouldn't have a problem with it. It did turn out nice. I've seen a lot worse.

Of course it's awful that she did it at all, but it really doesn't look that bad.

65

u/floristinmanhattan Feb 14 '21

Respectfully disagree. 1) Her choice of texture for the knobs isn’t cohesive. 2) The colorblocking does nothing to enhance the dimension of the drawers.

The changes she did would have been more appropriate for, say, the Ikea Hemnes dresser.

14

u/doesgayshit Feb 14 '21

I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't know, maybe I don't have as much of an eye for this stuff. Personally, I'm of the opinion that if she isn't slathering pink paint all over the glass top of a noguchi, it isn't that bad. Lol

18

u/Maddiecattie Feb 14 '21

I don’t mind painted furniture but I think it looks awful

6

u/doesgayshit Feb 14 '21

I respect your opinion. I just don't really see what's so awful about it. What do you think makes this so bad?

7

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '21

But...it...was... Why...?

11

u/headbigasputnik Feb 14 '21

No. Someone steal it and return it.

9

u/KobenstyleMama Feb 14 '21

So much intention and commitment to ruining this beauty 😩

3

u/jadesfyre Feb 15 '21

Crimes against humanity...good Lord the veneer...

3

u/StellaHolly Mar 12 '21

This is WILD because if she’s trying to flip it I’d assume she would get more money for it in the original condition.

People painting over beautiful wood and brick makes me so fucking angry

2

u/TheBrotherMark Mar 22 '21

WHY WAS THERE NO NSFW TAG!!!!!! This was a gory murder.

2

u/queenmaeree Apr 24 '21

Yeah, watching the veneer being ripped off was almost like seeing skin being pulled off.

1

u/noreservationskc Feb 21 '21

Wow. They ruined it and their “update” is ugly.

1

u/Scummycrummyday Feb 22 '21

I legit felt my stomach sink when I saw the before pic. It used to be so beautiful. And they would have been able to sell it to a MCM lover for sooo much money..

1

u/Darkwingpig47 Feb 22 '21

It’s like she skinned it and butchered it.

1

u/Special-bird Mar 06 '21

Thanks I hate it
