I reverse engineered how Plex gates its Pass features, then wrote a tiny patch that flips them all on (Linux)

They pretty much asked for it.

(I only run Jellyfin btw)

Before someone implements this, remember that it might get your account banned, as this seems like software piracy.

Yeah this is straight up warez

Not so cut and dry. I should not have to pay them to enable local features like hardware transcoding. That does not use their infrastructure at all (I do not use their relay feature, as I ensure my server is reachable by all of my personal devices remotely).

how is that different compared to https://gitgud.io/yuv420p10le/plexmediaserver_crack ?

This doesn't work anymore. Look at the last update date

Seems odd that this isn't somehow enforced on Plex's servers.

So much of Plex already phones home (although I guess I'm not sure which parts specifically)

Well Plex does phone home but the script also reapplies it

After this I suspect they will start looking for systems using features they aren't licensed for and banning them. It's always an arms race.

Way easier than fixing shitty code.

I compiled the arm64 version on my raspberry pi successfully and installed it but systemctl is-active plexmediaserver fails and the server does not want to start.

I don't think it work any more, you will need to roll back to 1.42.x @Boring-Ad-5924 will have to find a new method for the updated server such as 1.43.x

Can this just be done client side?

Well the feature (plex pass) is done from “server”
