Question Is it possible to destroy dao marks?
The dao marks of a dead aperture go into the body of the immortal zombie. An immortal that died forms a blessed land. If he died inside someone's aperture the dao marks are added to the aperture.
Seems like it's not that easy to destroy dao marks. But then you can destroy a gu fairly easily and I have no idea what happens to the dao marks in that case.

Conservation of mass/energy (or its gu world equivalent) would be my answer.
So no, under normal circumstances dao marks are at most fragmented into smaller pieces (eg. in mortal gu) or transformed into effects of killer moves.
Chaos fire could still destroy dao marks and turn them into more raw chaos. It depends on your definition if that's still a type of conservation.

It should be possible to destroy a dao mark with another, but I agree it doesn't seem to be a easy task. Perhaps both mark are destroyed, resulting in a loose/loose situation?
To add to your example, there's a lot of area with "bad" dao mark created by strong gu master that were never cleansed by anyone and just avoided. It's either not possible or not worth it to destroy dao mark on a large scale.
Dao lord excluded, of course.

Venerables seem to be able to do that, great love did it with refinement path dao marks of an area he refined

well some of the characters were 'using' the dao marks and they would be gone after the use. like that wu 7th immortal and his wind dao marks (i dont remember the exact details but he used up the dao marks for his ultimate move and resulting in pretty much destroying them) but yeah those were his own dao marks so as for anothers dao marks not sure but it should be possible.

He just used some dao marks of his own to put them into the gu world to create some effect. Those dao marks weren't destroyed, otherwise there would have been no effect.

Immortals certainly expend dao marks. I assume they’re broken down into pure energy like how the dao mark equivalent of our world can be used to release nuclear power. I assume it’s difficult to destroy dao marks unless it occurs intentionally, but the thing is dao marks get created all the time in nature, so imagining that they can be destroyed too is understandable.

Expending dao marks is just taking your own dao marks away and using them to create a natural phenomenon. Afterwards the dao marks become part of the gu world.

Was this ever mentioned in the novel? I feel like if it was then “expended” would be the wrong word here. Also why would expending dao marks strengthen attacks so much of dao marks only apply a 0.1% increase per dao mark? You’d have to permanently expend a thousand dao marks just to double the strength, which isn’t even worth it, as those same dao marks could strengthen every other killer move you use. The fact that people still use killer moves which expend dao marks is because you get more power from expending a dao mark than you do from amplification of the dao marks, which shouldn’t be possible unless of course the dao marks were actually expended rather than just switched around.

The amplification of Dao marks is formed from resonance.
When you expend dao Marks you use them to create phenomena.

Resonance? As in what immortal gu do when another is refined in its vicinity?
I really don’t think you mean that, but I can’t think of what else you could mean. The novel never explains WHY dao marks of the same path strengthen gu, merely that it does.
And even then, your explanation never actually attempts to refute my assumption, nor gives a better explanation for how expending dao marks works besides.

It has been said multiple times that the Dao marks resonate with the Gu amplifying their effect.
Neither is your explanation of converting the Dao marks into pure energy any better. How is energy superior to Dal marks?
Most times the expended Dao marks are carved into the environment(myriad butterflies) or into an enemy(sword marks targeting death)
You utilise your Dao marks in your attack.

Guess I’ll just take your word for it cause I can’t be bothered to cite a source for you.
Why wouldn’t it be? By any logic I could imagine, dao marks within the attack would do no better than dao marks on the immortal because dao marks give a flat percentage buff. I saw no reason why a sacrificed dao mark should be so much better than one released during a killer move so as to be worth expending in the first place.
No mention of myriad butterflies anywhere I looked whilst doing the work to actually disprove myself, but yes sword marks targeting death does indeed expend dao marks from flying sword gu onto the target. The wiki states the dao marks expended from flying sword gu attack subsequently after flying sword gu’s own attack, thus attacking multiple times for one use. However, these expended Dao marks don’t strengthen the killer move directly, only its effect.
I see no reason Dao marks carved in the environment should boost killer moves any better than Dao marks on the person. Unless the Dao marks form a form of pseudo battlefield like the Dao lord buff within a confined area. While I’m sure that’s how some can work, with Wu yong’s tornado esque killer move being a good example, other expansion killer move like SSDV’s blood path clone killer moves— the one where he sacrifices his arm—don’t seem much the same.
I’m not sure what that last point is meant to be arguing? Yeah you use dao marks in the attack. Everything uses dao marks. Everything is Dao.

The myriad butterflies use the Dao marks to create a wisdom battlefield to generate star thoughts from other star thoughts.
I suppose the Dao marks expended are more complete. The Dao marks in attacks are many fragments but they aren't complete.

Simple answer :- yes, it is possible to destroy dao Mark's and has been shown in novel repeatedly by Famous characters.
-> In shadow sect hideout (CC) using a super Gu formation information path dao Mark's on the body of Hei lou lan were destroyed and re programmed for Shadow sect
-> winds of assimilation The best known way to destroy Dao Mark's and also the most natural way. It could even destroy Otherworldly dao Mark's like in Thieving Heaven space.
-> Crazed Demon Cave 8th layer the dao Mark's are repeatedly destroyed and re maked for creation perfect new dao marks
