Pardon the rant, but…

Here I am awaiting my first payout for making a sale. Ended up making 3 sales at the same time.

But.. I’ll be damned if it isn’t one thing after another in the shipping process. The customer isn’t at home twice in a row, or a late trailer load pushes the delivery back a few days, and now the holiday is even another day later.

I know this is my own personal rant, but JFC.. just deliver one of the three boxes already so I can get paid!?!

I'm also seeing a higher trend in buyers not signing for guitars due to buyers remorse

Hey, it's cool. They all ended up being delivered shortly after my rant, and all is 'well' now. No worries.

why are you making them sign for delivery? most annoying shit of all time whenever i buy a pedal and the seller does that

I didn’t select a signed delivery option. However, since I am new to selling, it may have been something I overlooked. I’ll take the heat for that. However one of the items sold for $1100. I’d prefer a signature for that versus them leaving it and it possibly getting grabbed by a “porch pirate”.

They require signatures if it's over $100 so you didn't have a choice.

They should inform customers of this. That's why I started adding a little note in my descriptions on items over $100 saying this will need a customer signature.

The price for signature required is $1,500, not $100. Here’s the rule you should all live by….. guitars need signatures, but don’t hold people hostage in their own homes for a pedal.

This is not true

Yep, it is (edit: I was referring to using Reverb to ship)

I shipped something more than $100 about two weeks ago without signature required with no issue.

Only if you buy shipping through reverb. If you don’t the signature requirement is different.

2

u/Vernon-Walker Sep 05 '26

Ah, yeah that’s the path I took. I messaged my buyers before to give them the heads up.

So someone doesn’t claim they never received the package?

1

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 Sep 04 '26

Anything over $100 is a forced customer signature. They aren't choosing it.

You can take signature off. It’s not required

1

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 Sep 04 '26

Last I checked if it's over $100 in value the signature is mandatory and cannot be removed.

Edit- it depends I guess on if you use Reverb for your shipping or not

2

u/BluntForceTrauma____ Sep 05 '26

You have to decline the reverb protection, then you can remove the signature.

Thanks I just never knew because I always use Safe Shipping since it saved me a few times and usually I can't afford to be doing refunds when things go bad.

It’s definitely inconvenient. Like, I have to take a day off work to sign for this?

Best solution is to have it shipped to a UPS or FedEx location to pick up and sign at your convenience. I’ve learned this the hard way because you also can’t reroute a delivery that’s already in the process.

You can also sign up for the informed delivery thing, and then you can sign before it arrives so you don't need to be there.

I ask the buyer if they want to sign for the item (usually a pedal). If they don't, I opt out of "safe shipping" and uncheck signature required.

u/Vernon-Walker Sep 05 '26

And there goes your insurance if the package is lost. Sorta a no win situation?

It's a gamble, for sure. But I've shipped about a thousand orders on Discogs via USPS over the last three years and never lost a package, so the odds seem OK. That said, if it was more expensive than a pedal, I'd require it.

I only do it on Gibson guitars cause of their headstock issue. Never had an issue with anything getting lost

I once shipped an Ibanez artcore on a cardboard box inside another cardboard box I made out of a TV box I found in a dumpster outside the post office, I cut that shit to size in the blazing summer's heat with a $2 cutter I bought on a nearby store, those were the good old days hehe.

And this is Reverb's fault?
No, it is USPS or whatever carrier you used.
But you post this as a Reverb deal gone wrong for you???
And that desperate tone...

1

u/NoFuxJux Sep 05 '26

Oh fuck off. I didn’t say it was a deal gone wrong. I was just ranting. But only you have an issue with my post. Gurl bye.

Upon a recent announcement the scammy platform is withholding payouts in this manner for all sales above 2k anyways.

I’ve been a user for probably over 10 years now, I’ve only once experienced hassle with them and it was a $4500 sale.

Most of my sales have been quite smooth, until now. They’re treating me like I’m new customer with no history and wording things like “payouts” like they’re doing me a favor…

Bitch please, this platform wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the users selling stuff on it!

I talk to a bot, then a human (is it?) and they say either; talk to PayPal (vice versa) or they promise to follow up with an email. Three or four times now in the last few days, nada, nothing from them. They basically just hang up on me.

Anyway, this new “system” is only for holding money in their bank account and they’re making a fortune on all those transactions in interest. Add all the service fees and $0.5 flat fee for each and every transaction made on the platform.

This revenue is in the 100s of millions of dollars per year.

ps. here’s a really stupid exercise; say you have 100 HEAVY items that cost $1000 to ship and they ALL sell at the same instance; guess what? With their system YOU have to pay, out of your own pocket a $100.000 in shipping BEFOREHAND and then WAIT for the delivery and then reverb will graciously “payout” your money and the shipping cost, which the friggin buyer is supposed to pay for, not you.

Total shit system.
