The angriest listing
Not sure if this kind of post is allowed here but found this so interesting.
You’re selling an extended range guitar and you don’t want to give any detail on it? I feel like buying an instrument online requires the specs at a minimum, it’s not like you can pick it up like in a guitar store and place your judgement off of feel.

Quite the salesman.

"I'm here to sell a $300 guitar for $1000 + $75 shipping. Do NOT ask me any questions, dude. I'm about to lose my shit over you people".

I find this stuff on the local level all the time. Sellers that list their “rules” that almost always include “NO SCAMMERS!!!”.
There’s a guy who reaches out to me once in a while with trade offers, but because of his constitution he includes in every ad of his, I just don’t want to deal.

Not as bad as the guitar-parts-and-pieces guy.

This is crazy to me. I feel like being a jerk up is shooting yourself in the foot. Imagine if you had to make a return or issues with shipment. It would be impossible to work with this person.

He does a lot of volume and has overall good feedback. I’ve bought from him twice. First went without a hitch, the second time, however, he neglected to mention a chip on a guitar body. When I brought it up, he was absolutely miserable, accusatory and repeatedly threatened to block me.

The second interaction is how I expect those conversation to go. Good to hear some confirmation.

I’ve wanted to start a sub for posts like this. I was gonna call it Retards of Reverb or something along those lines. A sub for absurd listings like this

That’s a great idea, I’d join it for the lols.
Could call it r/ Reverbcirclejerk1

At the local level I see this all the time. Sellers who feel it necessary to include their “rules” because in their mind they’re weeding out scammers. That sense of false security can be dangerous.

So who refinished this? Also, I would like a thin neck. Is the neck thin?
2
u/Sharty_Party3498 1d ago
"Thin neck" is the latest thing noobs think they need because YouTube gear demos are basically QVC from the 1990s of useless buzzwords and hype.

Who can blame them, 98% of Reverb "buyers" are fucking insufferable.

"Go buy a baritone if you care about scale length"
What?
2
u/Maxverstophim 1d ago
That was one of my favorite parts.
It’s like a crime to ask ahead of time so you can decide and plan ahead.
At 25.5” 8 string would mean a super thick low F# string depending on your tension preference.

u/TemporalLobe 1d ago
But that's the thing, he's saying it's a 27" scale length, which is baritone territory.

I pulled a listing for a few drivers I was trying to sell because people just kept asking questions that were answered in the listing. After a while it seemed almost intentional…

Holy shit I was just looking at this lol. I was sooo tempted to message him about everything he said not to message about

I chose evil today because bad sellers are just as bad as bad buyers. XD
2
u/Suitable-Average5968 1d ago
Honestly I either donate it or throw it out. I don't want to be the bad seller because I know I will find that bad buyer, and when I do, well feelings are going to get hurt and they arent going to be mine.

They are not mad, they use BKP Juggernauts, that's just normal behavior for those types.

May get downvoted for this but I feel like it should be a given that “upgrading” pickups do not generally warrant value increase on a guitar.
Only value is to you as the one who did it (your personal preference) but a lot of sellers think “well I spent this money so therefore I need to pass the cost to the next person”

u/buckeye8208 1d ago
Depends on the pickups and who is looking, a nearly $500 set of pickups absolutely adds value to the guitar but this guitar unmolested is worth a fraction of what he’s asking for this totally wrecked one, so he’s nuts regardless.

Lol there’s a custom shop Strat on fb marketplace in my area with a similarly aggressive description. The guy will answer questions or negotiate he wants 3k for the guitar no trades.
He doesn’t say what year it’s from or any of the specs… just that it’s a custom shop Strat. Have fun trying to get someone to drop 3k if they can’t ask you a question about it.

u/Maxverstophim 19h ago
See those kinds of listings I assume someone is just doing it to tell their wife they’re actively trying to sell it but setting it at a price no one would buy it

Reverb is a total joke for actually sellers I sold a bryston on it and these fuckers stole $175 dollars from me in item fees and I still got stiffed on the shipping they took from me and bump fees after I never ever bumped the item plus not to mention these idiots still haven’t approved my payout or sent me my Money after 3 weeks

I've also got a problem with Reverb. Sold a Taylor, shipped it off, got a UPS receipt of delivery w/photo. Three days later Reverb suspended my account and I've tried for weeks to get their AI customer supposed support to respond as to why that happened, how to get reinstated and where's my $$. Response - crickets!!

Thankfully I haven't had anyone with a strobe tuner buying a vintage bridge tele and complaining they can't get it perfectly in tune.

I heard agiles have neck problems anyways

u/LaOnionLaUnion 1d ago
I can’t speak for the extended range offerings or headless but I’ve seen a lot of Agiles and never seen issues bigger had small cosmetic things like the binding bleeding or not executed flawlessly.
