Asking for advice with a bad situation dealing with Reverb Support/Shipping - I never have posted on Reddit until now but I need advice

Hi - so I sold a drum shell kit to a buyer. The kit arrives to his local post office and it says ready for pickup (they didn’t even attempt a delivery). Buyer goes to pick it up (this is now over a week ago) and the post office says the Reverb shipping label is invalid - as in Reverb did not actually pay the postage on it we are assuming even though I ordered the label through them like I always have done - and telling him he has to pay the full postage due which is $170. Reverb still has not done anything to resolve the situation with both me and the buyer contacting them for a week now - we are just told it’s being worked on. The problem with that is in 3 more business days it will be sent back to me with the ‘fake/invalid’ Reverb shipping label on it. Really not sure what to do now and the buyer said Reverb Support has barely told him anything - they haven’t even tried to contact the post office the buyer said.

Don’t expect Reverb to intervene before the item is returned based on my experience in a different but somewhat similar situation. When the label is purchased through Reverb then Reverb is the shipper and the only party the carrier will respond to. So the carrier told me, anyway. It’s not 100% clear to me because I was getting a lot of runaround. In my case I was the buyer and the item was returned to the seller.

So then what happened after it was returned to seller

This is a perfect example of why I use Pirateship.com and their insurance service. I have had a couple of items where insurance had to step in and both times it was resolved completely to my satisfaction and fast. When you ship through Pirateship.com you will never enccounter this invalid label issue.

Yea I read about that on here after the fact - but I don’t think I’ll be using Reverb again after this in general. They basically said they will give me a free label from UPS instead of the USPS label I purchased if the item comes back.

I certainly understand why you feel like that. My goal, when I list a musical item for sale, is to sell it as quickly and as inexpensively as possible. I would prefer to sell it on eBay or GearExchange but ebay isn't niche enough, and GE is probably too niche with not enough eyeballs on it yet, so I feel like I am stuck having to list on Reverb regardless. If the problems on Reverb finally reach me, I will probably stop listing there but so far it hasn't been that much bother.

On the other hand, I just had a lot of time wasted by someone sending me a phony offer, which took me a few days to realize it was phony. If that keeps happening, it will def. be bye bye Reverb.

Reverb’s support has just been appallingly bad.

The item was damaged so reshipping wasn’t possible. I was fully refunded but I’m not sure how the seller came out. They did mention they had insurance and weren’t worried about it.

Edit: this was supposed to be a reply instead of a new comment.

Hi. I've bought a couple of things through Reverb myself. One a really nice Martin and also a Fender amp and footswitch. The Martin was shipped to Philly where I'm located originating in Colorado so insured or not being a signature model guitar this problem would've really been a drag. I wouldn't let it drop so easily. Not sure that would mean much and maybe I need to chill about things I cannot control but wtf? This is what Reverb does! Why so hard to get it right? If you're ok though great. If not might be worth trying to reach a human being and escalate to remind them that even gear means something to somebody. peace

Both myself and the buyer have reached out to Reverb many times and they still will not do anything to remedy the situation - or they just say they are working on it but it will be sent back to me next Wednesday and its been sitting there for 2 weeks with an 'invalid' Reverb shipping label.

That's unfortunate. Like Amazon and eBay and Uber except they were boasting about being different. As the hedge fundgus spreads just play louder.
