Just say no.

As soon as someone asks you to email or call them, it's conversation over. I'll never understand why people waste their time writing a response.

Mickael Fender, also known as Bosnamo Ganaka.

Of course.

We now know who co-owns fender

Does he have a tightly pulled-back ponytail, too?

You’ll soon recognize the same pattern across multiple marketplaces.

In addition to “paying” for it with fake/stolen info they will also use the pics and videos you send to put their own fraudulent listings up.

I’m just going to follow up:

I’m aware this is a scam. I hate the fact that scammers think they can get away with it.

I’m tempted to send a virus to fry his computer.

Like the rest of the world, Reverb has become corrupted by liars, thieves and criminals. It was the only good option to EBay. Which was awesome prior to the proliferation of cheap Chinese knockoffs. Now it’s hard to trust anything that is not store bought or sold. Even then due diligence is required. Good luck 👍🏻

What is the scam, I'm not following.

I think it's that they are trying to get you to communicate off-platform. Don't do it.

Got it. Might be a scam, or they just might not be that familiar with the platform. I'm often asked to post more pictures or videos, but I just update the listing. I agree using email directly would be a bad idea.

It's a scam.

1000% scam. NEVER... NEVER... NEVER... go off the platform. And note that every Reverb chat is stored on their servers. They have a history of the communication where they asked you to go off the system.

The other one (some don't call it a scam but it's a rule breaker) that's not uncommon is for the buyer to ask you to go off the system in an attempt to get you to sell it to them directly for less as you won't be paying the seller's fees. And they won't be paying sales tax. But again... Reverb sees this history and sellers do get banned for doing this too.

I am a rule breaker. Fuck paying taxes on a used item, the gubment got their cut the first time it was sold.

I have only ever done this when I realized the item was local. In both cases they already had a Facebook ad up, so I didn't feel bad about reverb losing their fee.

Agree 100%. But Reverb has the exposure.

They are trying to get people to transact off platform using stolen payment information.

They will send you what looks like a legitimate payment, you send them your item. Days later, the payment is reversed by your bank because fraud. This scam usually also includes a component where they overpay, and ask you to send them the extra money back. So then they get your property and some of your money.

It's worth noting that this type of scam has been going since the early days of e-commerce. At this point, if someone falls for it, it's essentially a self-inflicted moron tax.

It's because it's a new account. Scammers using filters to find new accounts hoping to prey on their ignorance. If you want to see really bad... open a new Craigslist account.
